Part one
The poem Miniver Cheevy gives much focus to a retrospective character. The character loves the old days than the currents ones and regrets having been in the current world. This is a clear indication some people don’t enjoy the modern ways on life. It is not once or twice that we’ve heard people commenting that they would rather have the old life than the modern life. To escape the burden of life, the lonely Miniver chose to drink alcohol to make him escape the reality of life ( Robinson et al., 1993). He did not see any other option in life and chose to drink aimlessly. This is what the current life hold for most people in America; alcohol has become the real identity of people in the current world. Alternatively, Richard Cory is another reading which perfectly fit the current society. He had money a lot of money and great wealth, however, to me, this did not give him the happiness he deserved, and he ends up killing himself. His wealth isolates him from others, and he could not find happiness that many people today think that when one is in such status, would enjoy. For instance, how many celebrities kill themselves due to stress, yet many youths today want to be just like such celebrities?
Part two
The yellow paper by Charlotte describes the kind of stress husbands as subjected his wife. The main idea in this story is that women’s freedom and happiness is in the hands of their husbands ( Thomas). This has been a major issue in the current world and even exists today. Women are seen to be the minority in the society. Robert Frost talks about producing a legitimate child. There are places where issues arise, and women are affected majorly when a child is born without both parents.
