According to the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism 74(1), it focuses on the impacts of obesity on children. This article is authored by Weghuber et al. (2019). According to the article, obesity had become a global public health problem since its emergence more than 30 years ago. Despite countries implementing various programs, initiatives and legislation to curb the disorder, it has continued to rise. For most children who remain obese, they will continue to do so even when they attain adulthood. However, for most treatment programs, they have failed to point out the long term effects of the various treatment programs. The article cites that there is a need to come up with more obese reduction strategies and interventions.

According to the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism 74(1), its main focus is on the ability of consumers to judge which foods are healthy and unhealthy. The article is authored by Chavasit & Kriengsinyos (2019). According to the authors, unhealthy foods play a vital role in spreading non-communicable diseases. There have been various strategies such as implementing the provision of nutritional information and other basic dietary guidelines the back of food packages. However, despite providing useful information to consumers, a majority of them do not understand them as they are too technical and complicated

The Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism 74(1) have focused on the importance of nutrition management amongst intensive care unit patients. The article was authored by Yatabe et al. (2019), and the study carried out in a Japanese intensive care unit. The ICU patients mostly have a low body mass index, and most studies have to focus on how their nutrition can be managed.

One of the most important things I have learned from the articles is that nutrition management is an essential element if one is to have good health (Yatabe et al., 2019, Chavasit & Kriengsinyos, 2019; Weghuber et al.,2019). without proper nutrition, one is bound to face a myriad of body and health issues including non-communicable diseases, obesity and even poor health outcomes amongst critically ill patients. Another crucial point learned from the topics is that there is a need to set up effective interventions and strategies to promote good health and well0-being. Most of the interventions set up the government fail as a result of a lack of funding (Weghuber et al., 2019). As nurses, we should be on the frontline supporting campaigns that can aid in promoting good health to reduce the many deaths resulting from preventable problems.
