The first nursing intervention that I learned at my clinical center is physical therapy for the elderly. Older people tend to be less mobile. Lack of physical activity among the elderly results in obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure (Taylor, 2014). Aging is associated with a reduction in the strength of muscles, and this accounts for reduced mobility among the elderly. Physical activity is a recommendation for any individual desiring to lead a quality life free from many conditions associated with physical inactivity. The elderly people at the daycare center were taken to nature walks by the nurses. Those with little energy jogged over short distances with the help of nurses. Gym sessions were available to the elderly, where they engaged in less vigorous activities, such as simple stretching and pushups. The elderly people who took part in these physical activities become more mobile. They were happy and peaceful because physical exercises improved mental health.

The second nursing intervention I learned at the clinical center was complying with the diet. Older people have poor memory and reduced cognitive function; thus, they cannot adhere to the recommended balanced diet (Parajuli et al., 2014). Lack of balanced among the elderly will compromise the quality of life. The nurse made sure that the elderly followed the recommended diet at the daycare center. The primary role of the elderly daycare center is to ensure that the patients attain perfect health. The nurses tracked the diet progress of the patients over a certain period. This ensured that the patients adhere to the prescribed diet. The nurses checked the quality of the food and beverages that the patients used. The nurses ensured that the meals provided contained the recommended level of calories. The patients were made to have enough sleep as this contributed to the quality of life.
