Team thinking is a critical process when it comes to establishing effective teamwork that enables proper nursing management, improving the performance as well as motivation to deliver quality healthcare to the patients. Research findings show that appropriate thinking and teamwork help in integrating services between the health providers enabling proper and quality healthcare to the communities or populations who have limited access to health care (Pinto, Wall, Yu, Penido, & Schmidt, 2012). Team thinking is, therefore, one of the crucial processes when it comes to establishing successful teamwork because it weaves the perceptions and skills of nurses, ensuring better results in providing healthcare services to the patients. This essay focuses on the importance of two team-thinking roles that include task monitoring and team analyst by sharing an example of someone fulfilling the roles in the nursing practice.

Task monitoring is one of the critical roles when it comes to team thinking because it helps the group to avoid obstacles, therefore, enhancing effective teamwork. Nurses, in most cases, have many roles to play when providing healthcare service to the patients, and they need to do the right thing at the right time. Task monitoring is one of the roles that majority of the nurse leaders undertake every day, and as an example of fulfilling this role, the nurse leaders make sure that the nurses have effective communication amongst themselves and ensure that they are executing their duties effectively without being overloaded. Proper task monitoring plays a significant role in team thinking process because it enables nurses to focus on specific tasks that are necessary when it comes to working together as teamwork.

The analyst is another role when it comes to team thinking, and the purpose is vital in assessing all the parts of teamwork, enabling it to work effectively by ensuring that all the critical issues are in order. Through the analysis of the problems, nurses can sort out some of the things that may hinder their ability to have effective teamwork or even provide quality healthcare services to the patients. An example of a nurse fulfilling the role of the analyst in team thinking process happened one evening when one of the nurses reported that one of the doctors asked them to execute some of the health practices that the regulation do not permit. The leader of nurses after receiving the information had to take the role to help other nurses understand the duties that are supposed to undertake and at the end ensure that the nurses work together effectively for quality healthcare delivery in the health facility (Rubenfeld & Scheffer, 2010). The role of analyzing issues is critical in enabling the team-thinking process to go on smoothly because it ensures that all the problems that might affect team thinking or even teamwork undergo careful and appropriate handling.

The majority of the team members perceive the roles positively because it enhances their ability to work as a team more effectively. In task monitoring role, for example, the team members appreciate the purpose of their leader in ensuring proper task monitoring enabling them to work within their jurisdiction and avoid issues of nurses carrying out duties that are illegal to them. The other role of the analyst is also crucial to team members because it enables the nurses to analyze some of the issues that affect them an incorporate them in decision making allowing them to work together effectively with minimum problems.

Fulfilling team-thinking roles is critical when it comes to achieving and practical team thinking. The roles ensure that the people have an agreement on what they are addressing and at the end, enhance the effectiveness of teamwork. It is recommendable for the team thinkers to incorporate all the roles of team thinking because it increases the efficiency of the activity.
