Generally, based on various backgrounds, the criminal procedure may take different perspectives. The competing views in the criminal justice system influence the decisions in giving verdicts depending on individual circumstances. There are two viewpoints by which the criminal guidelines are based. It can either take restorative justice, for instance, that from the Biblical focus or the criminal rights. Meanwhile, the competing perspectives should be well coordinated for practical rulings.

As noted, the criminal justice system can be based on two perspectives. However, the restorative system is the main focus of such bodies. Notably, the primary purposes of having such systems are to enforce fairness, control, and prevent any forms of crime. Similarly, restorative methods of administering justice involve responding to crimes and primarily repairing the damage caused as a result of the wrongful act (Van Ness & Strong, 2014). The affected party is compensated at last, and the offender punished. For instance, in a school set up strict rules and regulations may be enforced on drug and substance abuse to reduce damages on students' health. However, those students who ignore the laws if found are suspended, expelled, or arrested. Another typical example is the victim-offender mediation dialogue (VOMD) that gives room for the victim to initiate a face to face talk with the offender. Arguably, the restorative approach is dominant at any stage of the criminal justice system in even alongside a prison sentence.

Competing perspectives should be harmonized to avoid conflicts between the parties involved. Harmonized substantive measures can be applied through changing the procedures of the enforcement bodies (Bernatt et al., 2018). Ethical aspects from either side can be borrowed and manipulated to solve outstanding criminal issues. For instance, Ephesians 4:24 outline the human stewardship and dominion given by God. The stewardship suggests that we are accountable to look after God's creation in an effective way possible. However, moral accountability and control over the earth is one's wish. Similarly, criminal justice systems can devise ways of implementing sound criteria in administering justice by minimizing uncertainties in competing perspectives.

In summary, criminal procedure is a matter of competing perspectives in the criminal justice system. The restorative approach is the focus applied in the unlawful rulings due to its comparative advantages to all parties involved. Meanwhile, the competing perspectives should be integrated in an efficient way possible for better justice to all.
