A global health problem that has affected my community is the coronavirus, also known as Covid-19. In January 2020, the WHO declared Covid-19 outbreak a global emergency as the virus progressively spread of China and has affected numerous countries around the world (Nicola et al. 2020). Currently, there are more than eight million confirmed coronavirus cases with more than four hundred and fifty thousand confirmed deaths globally. The United States leads in the number of Covid-19 deaths with more than one hundred and twenty-one thousand confirmed cases (Worldometer, 2020). The virus has overburdened healthcare systems of the United States. According to Nicola et al. (2020), America has experienced shortages of personal protective equipment, lack of ventilators, and intensive care units. Besides, numerous frontline workers have lost their lives to the virus. Covid-19 has affected every aspect of life, not only the healthcare system and people have to be used with the new norms of lockdowns, economic turmoil, unemployment, football without fans, and closure of schools.
According to Schulte & News (2020), the surveillance data that can be drawn from patient EHR's is the treatment medications and treatment response to various drugs. There is no known treatment of the coronavirus, and scientists are still working around the clock to discover a vaccine for the virus. However, there have been claims of various medications that have been used to manage the virus. When President Trump publicly vouched for hydroxychloroquine as the biggest game-changer for COVID-19 treatment, this claim requires evidence from previously EHR records on the drug to ascertain its utility. So far, scientists are yet to pull EHR records to verify the president's claims due to the challenge of pulling thousands of digital files from various hospitals. Every step that a worker takes in treating COVID-19 patients, from prescribed medicines to signs of progress or setbacks, should be documented to offer treatment insights into the treatment of the virus.

From the Front Health Worker Coalition tweet of March 22, 2010, it cites lack of water and poor sanitation in hospitals and community clinics as a significant setback in treating injuries and diseases which merges health and nutritional risks. Poor hygiene is a root of many infectious diseases as germs/virus is transmitted from person to person through contact. As per the tweet, hand washing is a lifesaver during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, and also washing hands should be advocated at all times, as healthcare best practices. Adequate water supply and proper sanitation will impact the collaborative trend s in community health as it prevents the spread of infectious diseases.
