George Washington is one of the greatest leaders in the American history. Though he never received a college education and originated from a humble background, George distinguishes himself as a moral and democratic leader. In his tenure as a leader, he demonstrated a democratic kind of leadership. This is the participatory kind of leadership where people have mutual respect with their leaders. This research topic was chosen because George is a significant leader in the founding of United States of America. His leadership style is a lesson to be emulated in the whole world. Democratic leadership as exhibited by George Washington is an arrangement in a work place where influence is shared. This kind of leadership needs an intelligent leader, quick in decision making and above all a stalwart patriot.

The democratic leadership style empowers the people to have a strong hand in managing a state or an organization. George Washington is the father of democracy. He exhibited that a democratic state not only involves its citizens in decision making, but experiences periods of economic prosperity. Democratic leaders are excellent in solving complex problems by reviewing the possible collective solutions. George demonstrated this skill by carefully choosing his staff which constituted great philosophers and scientists such as John and Sam Adam ( De Tocqueville, 1889) . He was a visionary leader that demonstrated great skills in designing and creating constituent core values which ensured great results no matter the drawbacks. The democratic leadership of George Washington draws great lessons to all leaders in the world. He demonstrated that with democracy, the state, organization or society can prosper in terms of good governance, economy and a sustained mutual living among people. George demonstrated great character by turning down a third term in office which defined the true picture of democracy ( Schwartz, 1991) . His character as a leader was different from his predecessors where he notably guided the U.S government with democracy. His predecessors would command troops during the American Revolution but George would skillfully use his intelligent staff to give decisions.

The democratic leadership of George Washington benefited the United States in terms of economical prosperity, political stability and long periods of sustained peace. His leadership skills have changed the world. Many leaders see his leadership as a true management model of any institution or state. The United States benefited from long periods of freedom through abolition of slavery. He orchestrated this idea by strengthening the union of all citizens rather than directly abolishing slavery. This was a fragile yet fabric issue in the foundation of peace and prosperity in the nation. His faith in a democratic world motivated the whole society to work hard towards achieving the greater good of the future. Democratic leadership fosters creative environments, since the input of team members is supported and nurtured (Bohman, 2006). George Washington established a good foundation in the United States. This great foundation has enabled the United States to be a super power in the world. Democracy enhances a good business fit since the solutions are reviewed for a longer period and tested on continuous basis.

George in his leadership tenure, worked with great writers, philosophers, scientists and politicians. His leadership style effectively changed the life of so many people around him. One of the notable people, who worked under George, was his greatest critic Jefferson. Though Jefferson was his critic, they participated in debates rather than being alienated. Jefferson’s life was impacted positively by this partnership. Even though his ideas criticized the leader in power, they were warmly debated on and reviewed for better future of the nation. Franklin and mason are other names mentioned to have worked under George Washington ( Edwards & Wayne, 2013).  The presidents’ intellectual depended on them in times of critical decision, making. Though they were learned, they humbled down and worked with George who never went to college.

Generally, democracy is the foundation of a true governed state, organization or any institution. Democracy enhances a collective participation in solving problems in the society. This collective participation enhances growth since the team members input is supported and natured. George Washington is viewed as a role model who exhibited great features of a leader. His charisma, self motivation, vision and the urge for success ensured the greater good of the nation. His legacy has lasted for over 200 years and impacted positively in people’s lives ( Edwards & Wayne, 2013) . Dedication and vision for excellence is the right path for success. George never went to college like his peers but exhibited noble qualities of true leadership than his learned colleagues. In this research topic we learn that a democratic approach of solving issues has benefits that outweigh limitations. Democracy ensures economic stability, peace and great working environments. The leadership skills attributed by George Washington are true testimony that all leaders need to emulate. Democratic leaders expect those who report to them to have in depth experience and self-confidence ( Edwards & Wayne, 2013) . Therefore, there is need of establishing a good and intelligent staff in any governing body so as to enable quick and accurate decisions making processes. George selected great philosophers, writers, editor and scientists in his staff for proper review of possible solutions. In today’s world, there is need of identifying a leader who possesses noble skills of leadership in any institution or organization. George Washington was a great leader and his leadership skills are worth being emulated by all leaders in the world. Self-esteem, confidence and motivation are key features of a good leader. Good leadership skills have direct impact on the growth of a state or organization
