Task-orientation refers to focusing on getting the job done. The waged labor systems were focused on ensuring the work was done. In order to achieve this, the tasks were broken down into smaller manageable portions that were easy to track. This eliminated the burden of tasking the employers with the responsibility of issuing capital punishment for failure to perform. Employees were paid according to the work done. Despite the removal of capital punishments low wages and poor working conditions pushed workers into forming organized resistance to demand for better treatment. Te resistance made the states offer better working conditions and treatment.
