The digital revolution concept has been used to signify a significant technological change in the globe from the traditional analog and mechanical technology systems to the modern automated digital systems. The digital revolution started in the late 1950s and 70s. The Digital revolution has been a major driving force in the transformation of contemporary society (Kovarik, 2011) . The digital revolution has facilitated fast and efficient communication across internet uses in various parts of the world. Digital transformation has been critical in the process of dissemination of information. The Digital revolution has fundamentally altered the freedom of sovereignty of human beings. In many countries with democratic systems, democracy is based on the sovereignty of the citizens. The Digital revolution has changed the way people communicate. Although the digital revolution has been essential in guiding societal transformation, several issues have been raised by the digital revolution.

One of the significant milestones achieved in the modern world is the printing revolution, which happened from 1400 to 1814. The printing technology had a significant impact in Europe. Media technology industrializations accompanied the printing revolution. Before the printing revolution, the approach deployed in communication was the deployment of oral culture. The oral cultures were considered ineffective; however, the oral culture's decision-making process was based on consensus. The oral culture persisted even after the innovation of writing. Icons, symbols, and seals enhanced oral culture. Before the printing revolution, the culture of manuscripts was commonly deployed. The scribes and the Chinese printed images and wrote texts on wooden blocks (Kovarik, 2011) . The printing revolution ended its course after nearly five centuries. The decline of this innovation was demonstrated by declining income in advertisements. As a result, many workers were made redundant. The newspaper industry expanded more in Africa, Latin America, and Asia as it declined in Europe.

The digital revolution raises critical privacy issues. The relationship between the digital revolution and privacy is complex. The digital revolution comprises fundamentally on leveraging on data on what people do. The Digital revolution has a detrimental impact on the privacy of an individual. People's rights to share information without third parties discovering what has been shared are highly compromised. The conflict and tussle between privacy and the digital revolution have sparked several debates in many parts of the world. The government surveillance to detect criminal activities has raised questions on the role of government in protecting the people's welfare and rights. According to the Universal Declaration of human rights, no one should be subjected to unlawful interference with their privacy.

The digital revolution has significantly changed the nature of privacy. Initially, privacy was perceived and treated as a norm. Private information belonged to an individual, and anyone seeking access required seeking consent from the owner. Nobody or agency possessed the power to search or seek out confidential information without the owner’s permission. The businesses adopted an approach of market research rather than finding out the consumer’s data. The authoritarian governments deployed informants rather than using spyware. The digital revolution in the contemporary world has changed the above phenomenon. In the modern world, individuals can easily gather digital data. Individuals and businesses that are highly connected through the various social media networks lose as an aspect of confidentiality. In the modern digital world, it is no longer feasible to withhold data. Governments require individual data to develop effective strategies in collecting taxes, resource allocation, and delivery of public services in the contemporary digital world. The government has substantial individual data on its citizens. The government also needs individual data to investigate criminal activities, law enforcement, and the development of other policy interventions.

The digital revolution has enhanced individual data analysis processes. The Digital revolution has availed bid data. Organizations need to collect meaningful information on their employees, competitors, and customers. The digital revolution has enhanced data analytics and cognitive skills (Kovarik, 2011) . The utilization of data analytics has enabled businesses to increase their competitive advantage over their competitors. Companies deploy data analytics to analyze big data collected from their consumers to determine their needs and make future consumer behavior projections.

In the contemporary world, many developed and developing countries are undergoing a digital revolution known as the Internet of Things. The increasing forms of electronic devices have enhanced the Internet of Things. The digital interconnection of the computer systems in various parts of the world has been transformed daily. Internet of Things has enhanced our daily lives' transformation in facilitating access to improved medical care, increased property security, and improved company productivity.

World economies today are increasingly becoming dependant on the digital revolution. Economists have overtime in history observed the challenges associated with monopolies in many economies of the world. The overpricing of products is as a result of the efficiencies. The issue of deadweight loss emerges when consumer demand on a product decline due to quality cuts. As the quality of products declines, the consumers search for other alternatives (Kovarik, 2011) . Countries continue to invest in digital infrastructure to increase their global competitiveness while meeting the future and existing information needs. According to statistics, the world will have approximately 26.3 billion digital devices by the year 2021. The high connectivity will have a significant impact on the manufacturing sector. The digital revolution has facilitated the manufacturing of new products that are based on high technology.

The press was recognized as a great informer in the world during the industrial and commercial revolution. The Times innovation was based on a unique design by Fredrich Koening. The innovation of The Times brought down the costs associated with printing. The use of newspapers and digital media has been very critical in advertisements. The availability of online and free newspapers reduced the expenses needed to read newspapers. Readers interested in reading the online newspapers could derive value from the national media and local news (Kovarik, 2011) . The classified advertisement revenues suffered a blow as a result of the prevalence of bulletin boards. The revenues from the display advertisements declined due to the availability and higher efficiency in targeted advertisements.

The arrival of photography marked another significant milestone in the digital revolution. Lack of patent fees in photography leads to many entrepreneurs in Asia, Europe, and America. The initial photography utilized light-sensitive chemical substances. The major challenge in early photography was the sensitivity of the chemical substances to light. Dim rays left imprints, and there was a need to fix the images better.

The digital revolution has had a significant impact on the advertisement. Advertisements comprise of one of the old professions in the world. The presence of ads on wooden signs and painted walls indicates the long history of advertising. The town crier is another form of ancient ad. The human billboard was a variation of the town crier. Advertisements in 1405s and 1830s were done in magazines and newspapers. There are four main penny press kinds of ads: newspaper agencies for taking ads orders, space jobbing for selling space to diverse clients and purchasing the advertisement space, and space wholesaling, which comprise purchasing large advertisement spaces and advertisement concession.

The emergence of the telegraph ushered in a new era in communication (Kovarik, 2011). It marked a global victory for the Christians as well as serving the universal interests. Telegraph innovation changed the business news. The telegraph innovation enhanced international cooperation while security was strengthened to ensure the safety of telegraph users. Telegraph innovation achieved a major milestone in the United States in 1930 when more than 211 million were exchanged. The last telegraph was sent in 2009, changing the business models and becoming an international financial service.
