Advantage

I like it when this assignment is put in a group project format because in a group project format we will be able to share the responsibilities and this will provide me with tangible value and emotional comfort (Kozlowski, 2018). Working in groups would also help our group leaders to allocate each one of us tasks depending on the ability and expertise of each student. The research about divorce is highly emotive. Therefore, the divergent ideas are needed to explore the issue in details and find the appropriate solutions for the family facing challenges associated with divorce. Another reason why I like group work is it increases every student’s efficiency due to concentration on only one or two areas of the research.

Breaking down the project into activities and then assigning them to each group is very important since it helps every group understand the scopes of the project thus leading to faster decision-making (Kozlowski, 2018). In breaking down and assigning the project to each group, our teachers would use work breakdown structure entailing defining high-level objectives of the research, determining the task itself, determining the level of details needed and decomposing the whole project to each group.

Disadvantage

However, what I dislike about this task being in group project format is that certain students might think that it is a way of dividing tasks while certain students, on the other hand, might try engaging in time-consuming debates and discussions hence delaying completion of the entire assignment (Schuman, 2010). Consequently, this might lead to the over-delayed decision because every student wants his/her point to be put into consideration. In many cases, the group leader is forced to reach a consensus that could sometimes delay for more than one hour.
