In attempts to convince consumers to continue buying Perdue products, Perdue farms have created an advertising video. The advertising video sharply contrasts with what is revealed about their factory setting and the conditions of the animals. In the video PerdueChicken (2014), Purdue products are depicted as good and ideal for consumption. In the video Truth-worx Cornelia (2014), it reveals the inhumane conditions that are experienced by chickens in the Perdue factory setting. The conditions are dangerous to the chickens that cause their deaths, limping and unbalanced shapes that hinder their natural behaviors. Thus, the advert by Perdue farms fails to provide the truth about their products, to win the confidence of consumers by hoodwinking them.
The factory setting of Perdue farms is not ideal as per the requirement of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Firstly, the factory setting has failed to provide enough space to enable the humane conditions for the chickens (Goetz, 2010). This has further led to the continuous injuries and deaths of the birds. Considering that a factory setting should have enough space to ensure the birds practice their natural behaviors safely, Perdue factory setting failed to meet this requirement. In return, it causes injuries and deaths that could otherwise be avoided. According to USDA requirements, a farming factory, especially birds, should have enough space that fully supports the humane conditions of the birds.

Secondly, the factory setting does not allow the flow of air and sunshine. Considering that humane conditions should comprise of a free flow of air and sunshine, the factory failed to create enough ventilation. The standard conditions required by the USDA suggest that chicken rearing farms should uphold conditions that best fit the growth of the birds. Perdue farms do not meet this threshold exposing the birds to inhumane conditions.
Thirdly, Perdue farms do not maintain cleanliness levels. This is evident in the factory setting video that shows the concentration of dirt that has not been collected over time. In return, the dirt causes the depletion of feathers on the bird’s chest. Lack of feathers results in contamination that causes diseases and deaths. The conditions that the birds leave in are not natural, unfit for the consumers and the farmers.
The United States is one of the nations that accommodate mixed economic systems. In attempts to leverage the economic system, the US government allows co-existence of both capitalism and socialism. The federal government controls both the private and public sectors. It influences the markets through tariffs, subsidies, and prohibitions. Thus, the government controls the state-supervised markets through various interventions (Tsoklinova, 2015). The ethical actions of Perdue farms did not meet the set of the mixed economic system proposed by the government. Firstly, the levels of honesty and integrity were not matched. This is because; mixed economy setting provides gaps for sectors to ignore important ethical requirements. The availability of state-supervised markets influences the choices of consumers to subscribe to the products present in the market.
Perdue farms should be a law-abiding farm that adheres to the ethical conditions provided by mixed economy status. However, they have failed to meet the laws regarding factory setting, by exposing chickens to inhumane conditions. As required by USDA, ideal conditions for chickens should support the free flow of air and sunlight. Enough space is also necessary to allow the natural behavior of animals. According to the factory setting of Perdue farm, these conditions are lacking, raising questions on the safety of the birds, farmers and the final consumers.
