According to biology, energy refers to the aptitude to perform work. Therefore, saying that a substance gives us energy means that the substance contains energy sources like proteins and carbohydrates. 

The various ingredients found in energy drinks guarantee the provision of energy and they include: citric acid, which provides energy through production of chemical energy cells; fructose, glucose and sucrose, which act as the primary molecule of energy in the body; pantothenic acid, which provides a pathway for the production of energy molecules from carbohydrates and fats and pyridoxine HCL, which as well participates in energy production.

Other ingredients repair the body by building and rebuilding muscle tissue. They include glucuronolactone, which is a glucose byproduct and useful in animals’ connective tissue and 1-Glutamine, which maintains muscles as well as aids in their building.

6. Some of the drinks lack energy sources. Nonetheless, after consumption, they give the perception that energy has been increased. Such occurrence may take place due to the stimulation caused by caffeine. The caffeine present in energy drinks stimulates the brain thus improving reasoning responses, memory and improvement in endurance during strenuous activities. 

7. My analysis does support that any of the five drinks can serve as energy drinks because some of their ingredients are relevant in energy production. They are: XS Citrus Blast, because it contains citric acid, pantothenic acid, and pyridoxine HCL; Red Bull, since it has both glucose and sucrose; Sobe Adrenaline Rush, as it has high levels of fructose, pyridoxine hydrochloride and citric acid and Impulse due to its contents such as sucrose, citric acid, which is in the form of vitamin C and pyridoxine HCL. 

8. It is possible for the drinks to serve different purposes according to consumer wants. They are both energy providers and muscles builders. 

9. An increase in the intake of sugars results to a physiological response whereby, the sugars upset the balance of blood sugar by increasing the levels of blood glucose. As a result, insulin production must as well increase. The excess sugar is harmful because if the insulin produced is insufficient, one could suffer from diabetes. Also, it turns into fat if not used up in the form of energy during physical work. Increase in the fat may lead to increased weight and obesity. 

10. An increase in caffeine intake causes an increase in the heart rate, which may lead to heart rate palpitations that are irregular. Too much of caffeine is harmful because it may cause anxiety and insomnia. 

11. Increased sodium consumption causes physiological responses such as thirst and later swelling, due to increased concentrations of plasma sodium. After drinking water, the kidneys reduce the amount of water released into the urine to balance the excess sodium around body cells. Hence water retention leads to the swelling and edema. Too much of sodium consumption is unhealthy because it leads to high blood pressure, which could later cause cardiovascular diseases. 

12. According to biochemistry and physiology, when one lacks sleep, they eventually lack energy. During sleep, the body rebuilds muscles to recover from previous energy use. Therefore, metabolism of carbohydrates and regulation of hormones takes place. Hence, sleep loss disturbs the metabolic functions, thus depleting energy. 

13. The product claims presented about the beverages are legitimate because they have all proved to be energy sources.

15. I should rather buy one of the four energy drinks than Coke because they have lesser calories and guarantee to give more energy than Coke.
