Sovereignty

What is sovereignty? How did it affect how people thought about their governments?

Sovereignty is the right and power held by an individual or a state to govern themselves or others. It controls how people use the idea of reason to determine their identity, rationality, and individuality. This reasoning helps people to know their rights, giving them thought about how they are governed.

What were some of the limitations of the idea of sovereignty?

Some of the limitations of sovereignty are the expressions of every person’s consent in the state’s power. As a result, there was a growing distrust in monarchy, religious leadership, individualism interests, freedom, and rationality. Therefore, the government’s legitimacy was only acquired through meeting the needs of those who they governed.

On the other hand, non-Japanese less privileged children were forcibly taken away from their mothers and sold out. Enlightenment changes Unlike many changes in history, which are driven by kings and other kinds of leaders, the changes in the enlightenment brought through by common men and women with uncommon ideas.
Philosophy Unlike today where people focus on a single career or talent, during the enlightenment period, one person would perform the duties of a scientist, musician, and writer of fiction altogether. People were rounded in the fullest word and approached projects with mastery of almost everything.
Engagement The idea of reason was engaged in many areas, especially the complex issues, to provide explanations and solutions. For instance, it was used to substantiate what people believed through faith to prove the ultimate existence of God.

Enlightenment

How did the Dutch and British influence enlightenment think?

The Dutch and British philosophers emphasized critical reasoning rather than tradition. In a Dutch proceeding, it was revealed how Low Countries were in full bloom during the age of reason due to rationalistic thought. For instance, Isaac Newton's principles were drawn from ordinal events but had rational ideas in science and mathematics.

What opinion did Enlightenment thinkers have about slavery?

Enlightenment thinkers believed that although slavery resulted from the war, it also had its roots in ethical, religion, and economic aspects. For example, the Royal African Company made its profits by enslaving Africans. This had direct blame to the people in power. Through enlightenment, philosophers emphasized the concept of shared humanity.

What views did Enlightenment thinkers have about progress? How did that affect their views of different societies?

To meet the required progress, enlightenment revealed a need to raise institutions to educate all people, including women and children, to prepare them for the modern citizenship of reasonable and better living. As a result, enlightenment thinkers thought that different societies needed to end discriminative practices such as sexism and slavery.

How did enlightenment think impacted production and distribution?

The introduction of education to people helped increase the working-class population, leading to significant production. Besides, through critical thinking, more scholars discovered more scientific and intellectual inventions.

Enlightenment educational institutions helped the working-class people to learn more about work, making them more productive. Besides, enlightenment emphasis on shared humanity increased their privileges within the society.

So, was the Enlightenment revolutionary? What does the author think? What do you think?

Enlightenment was revolutionary. The author thought about the minor changes in social and economic inequality to be fundamental, forming significant reforms occurring later in the global society. In my opinion, the enlightenment emphasis on critical thinking and shared humanity have eventually been proved to have paved the way for many people to freely enter the field of philosophy and brought about more inventions and science over time.

The idea of progress formed a platform where many people learned to participate in the enlightenment networks, including the colony's people. As a result, there was increased involvement leading to colonial expansion.
