The example of a poor persuasive speech provided is that involving climate change. First, the speech lacks an attention getter in the introductory part. As such, it will likely not immerse the audience into the rest of the delivery. Secondly, it lacks a thesis statement that ties all the points that the individual wishes to convey to the audience. Most significantly, the persuasion lacks any credible sources of information or evidence that builds on the ethos of the text.

Improving this speech would require the incorporation of catchy introductory remarks that contextualizes and wins the attention of the audience. At the end of the introduction, the individual should include a thesis statement that outlines what they want to prove about climate change. The preview should then follow where they state what they wish to discuss in the essay. Lastly, credible and reputable sources must back the sentiments in the speech in building accuracy and legitimacy.

From the poor examples, I have had the opportunity to learn how best to present a persuasive communication. The aim of persuasion should be to ensure that the audience understands and appreciates my point of view. As such, I should leverage various persuasion tools such as pathos, ethos, and logos. Most fundamentally, the organization of the work should begin with an introduction that has an attention getter, a thesis statement, preview, the body, and a recap of the speech.
