From a personal perspective, I believe that the key to spiritual leadership is absolute obedience to the Father's will applies to all types of leaders, including an educational leader in a Christian school. Based on the teaching from the scripture, every leader is chosen by the supreme God. For instance, the biblical kings like David and Saul were appointed by God through the prophets. Therefore, if God chooses all leaders, it means that they possess the spirit of God within them. As a result, the Holy Spirit instructs and guides them to ensure that they perform their roles based on the will of God. Furthermore, the Bible depicts that God is interested in servants and not necessarily the leaders we as human beings have in mind (Blackaby, 2011). God intends to use these "servants" to guide the people according to His will. Therefore, as an educational leader, one can provide curriculum direction and guidance inclined to God's will.
In the first few chapters in the proverb book, I have learned that wisdom is exercising the knowledge gained through continuous learning. Wisdom equips one with the ability to execute appropriate and compassionate actions. As an educational leader, I have learned that one should not stop learning to increase wisdom level. However, the book also depicts God as the primary source of true wisdom. As indicated in proverbs 1:7, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instructions." Therefore, as a leader, it is important to implement programs that do not violate the Lord's teachings. Having a fear of the Lord means that a leader will rely on the biblical teachings to lead and implement his leadership strategies and programs. A leader who walks in the wisdom of God rules with compassion and empathy (Sipe & Frick). He can easily discern between right and evil. As a result, he only engages in activities that do not cause evil and suffering to others, ensuring that God is glorified through his leadership.
