The Golden Age of Television is the period from the late 1940s to early 1960s in the United States in which television programs were produced and broadcast live. The era was characterized by the anthology drama in which there was a weekly turnover of quality public affair programs. A new play was broadcasted each week, with a new set of actors and a new writer. Shows such as Westinghouse Studio One and Playhouse 90 peaked in popularity during this era.
