What is your reaction to The Story of Stuff video?
My initial reaction to the video was one of utter surprise in the manner in which we, as humans, are on an unstoppable self-destruct mode. Before watching the video, I would have sworn that our biggest problem is with our attitude, as consumers, to the use and disposal of the waste we ‘manufacture.’ However, after watching the video, I realized that even if we attained 100% proper waste disposal and recycling option, there would still be other factors in play to achieving full conservation effort.
Be specific in your narrative about what you learned and what impressed you the most.
I was particularly impressed by the manner the narrative was constructed to resonate with, not only the youth but also children and the seniors. The creator of the narrative explained complex and nominally boring issues in such an exciting and straightforward manner that I was captivated and interested. I got to learn the role the government and corporates have been and continue playing in hindering the conservancy effort, by advancing economic fronts that bear adverse consequences on the very people they claim to care about.

Did it make you think differently about anything?
The video did make me think differently on the role I am playing, as a consumer, in advancing the harmful elements of economic prosperity. I reviewed my life and realized the magnitude of my carbon print and my negative contribution to world health.
What, in your opinion, is the primary motive behind the film?
The most significant problem conservancy efforts have had in recent years is convincing people that they are part of the bigger problem and that their efforts will go a long way in contributing to the overall change. Therefore, the primary motive of the film is to raise awareness among individual people in realizing that they are part of the bigger problem. In doing this, the film intends to challenge every person to take personal responsibility of reducing their carbon print. It is also aimed at engineering a global wave of conservancy efforts to holistically address the problem along each step of the waste-disposal chain.
