The health care sector in our country and the world at large is facing challenges. Health care reforms aimed at resolving these challenges for better medical care delivery to the citizens. There are several health care reform approaches, and I selected the Public Single Player Approach. There are several ways in which this approach would be appropriate in my community. This approach will ensure that quality healthcare is affordable to everybody regardless of their race or economic status, (Andrews, Beynon, and McDermot, 2019). The community members will be enrolled automatically to an integrated public plan, and it will give them an opportunity to choose the hospital and doctor of their choice. Our community is comprised of people from different cultural backgrounds and economic status thus having integrated public health care will help the less fortunate.

Public single-player approach to healthcare does not address some issues comprehensively. Allied healthcare shortages and clinical technology are among the items that are not well catered for in this approach. Having the healthcare sector entirely controlled as a public entity will take away the aspect of completion. Competition encourages the adoption of new technologies; thus, this approach does not promote growing clinical technology. Public controlled sectors such as public transport is characterized by lack of quality delivery of services. Therefore, this approach is likely to have a healthcare sector where necessary equipment and medicines, or even to make it worse a shortage of doctors and nurses. Since this approach can be improved to ensure that the challenges are fixed for the efficient delivery of services.

Health care policies are always being formulated and implemented with the aim of ensuring citizens access affordable and quality medical care. Two of the health care policies among many in our country are the Medicare Physician Payment System and Utilization Management and Utilization Review. Integrating other cost and quality driven strategies with utilization management highly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare system. However, this system requires strict implementation or else it will cause a lot of negative impact on society. This policy has been understood poorly causing delays and confusion. A lot of time is wasted from practitioners handling management and consequently reducing the overall quality of service delivery. The Medicare physician payment system has increased the physician charges, and this has created a financial burden on taxpayers.

Considering the current climate for healthcare reform in our country I think the current policies are not sufficient. The effectiveness of the healthcare reforms is measured by identifying if the aims and goals are achieved effectively and efficiently. Despite the formulation and implementation of the healthcare policies, the healthcare expenditure trend is spiral. For the last fifteen years, the issue of increasing healthcare expenditure has been a topic of discussion among stakeholders. The policies have suggested several payment systems, but none of these systems has prevented the spiral trend in healthcare expenditure. The increased expense consequently forces the government to use a lot of public funds to facilitate healthcare delivery.
