Why this court jurisdiction exists Juvenile justice system exists in order to divert young offenders (children/adolescents) from tough punishments declared by criminal courts and also encourage rehabilitation as per the needs of the juvenile ( Hemmens et al., 2015 ) . This court jurisdiction differs from criminal/adult court in the sense that it focuses on assisting the child/adolescent according to their needs and not prosecute them as per the actions that brought them before the court.
Importance of this court jurisdiction

This court jurisdiction is important in the sense that it focuses on rehabilitating the juveniles basing on their needs. This helps in reshaping the juveniles into good citizens who abide by the law. This court jurisdiction does not focus on convicting the children/adolescents as per their actions but rather to rehabilitating and mentor the kids as per their needs ( Hemmens et al., 2015 ) .

The kids/adolescents through juvenile’s court system are offered education and other vocational trainings to acquire skills that they can use to earn a living.

The rehabilitation process which is based on the needs of the juveniles is aimed at nurturing and reshaping the juveniles into responsible citizens who will abide by the law and for this case the kids are protected from destructive punishments of adult/criminal courts. This helps in transforming the kids who may later change and become resourceful citizens.

Issues that can arise from this court jurisdiction The aim of Juvenile justice system is to rehabilitate and transform the juveniles into responsible citizens. For this reason, the juvenile courts focus on rehabilitation of the kids rather than prosecuting them ( Hemmens et al., 2015 ). Despite all this effort, several issues do arise from juvenile justice systems which include but not limited to; drug abuse, disruptive disorders, anxiety disorders, mental health problems, safety concerns and educational problems. These issues when not addressed on time may be more harmful to the juveniles thus not achieving the goal for juvenile justice system which is to rehabilitate and transform these young offenders.
