I agree with Aldo Leopold’s argument that the humankind should practice land ethics because of the biggest threats that people are facing today. For example, an increasing number of industries have been violating the land ethics by carelessly dumping waste products on land and water, which eventually end up in seas and oceans. According to Leopold, a thing is right if it maintains beauty stability and integrity of the biotic community. One the other hand, it is wrong if it tends otherwise.

For the last 20 years, there have been more waste materials that have been dumped carelessly, polluting land, water, and air. Moreover, even energy-efficient machines that are developed today do not work well, and they still use fossil fuels, which are the major pollutants. I think human beings have neglected their moral duties, ultimately to prevent pollution, which has led to global warming. Therefore, it is necessary for people to change their moral code because enforcing such behavior can stop the pollution on land, water, air, and prevent global warming.

According to Leopold, an alteration that involving enforcing land ethics is possible because people can stop land pollution using the best ways of caring for the environment, which includes dumping waste material properly (Nijhuis, 2015). The simplest way to care for the environment is by protecting forested lands and practicing proper dumping of wastes. Also, humankind can promote the culture of caring for the environment and encourage people to embrace it. Caring for the environment will not only prevent pollution on land, but the ethical practice will protect natural habitats, which are homes for animals. When people pollute the environment, they violate animal rights, such as the right to be free of human destructions. These are fundamental but the best solutions for reversing all the pollution problems that humankind has caused on land.
