A disposal is a term that refers to the manner in which a case or matter is determined or settled, or a property is transferred to another's care or possession such as by a sale deed or will. The goal of intermediate disposition is to provide a program of rehabilitation, training and treatment. There are some situations where intermediate disposition is necessary such as when suspect is not of sound mind and the judge orders they be taken for treatment before the case can proceed. Intermediate disposition ensure efficient operation of the courts and promoting fair by taking specific situations into consideration.
The Intensive Supervise Probation program is being used as an alternative for incarceration. The offenders, in this case, are assigned to parole officers and the offender has to report to the parole officer regularly. Intensive supervision probation programs include punishment and control of offenders in society, (Hyatt and Barnes, 2017). The issue of overcrowding and other challenges in the running of prisons has shifted the focus to IPS programs. There are several criteria for placement programs such as the duration of supervision, the parole officer to offender ratio, and the actual monitoring.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The criterion for placement I recommend for the placement into the intensive supervision probation program is the duration of supervision. This is because research done on the IPS program shows that the recidivism rates vary significantly as a function of time at risk. It is not easy to control an offender for an extended period as they are likely to re-offend. Therefore, I recommend that only offenders spending short durations of correction should be placed in this program.
