One of the problems identified with the police department is poor management. The police sector has an issue with the government, and I have primarily affected the department's operations. The police are lacking rights that are protecting them from the offender. Many rights dictate how an arrest should be conducted. The law so much covers the accused, and the police are left to fight for their rights. There are no laws that protect the police in case an offender refused an arrest. The issue arises from poor management in the police department.

One of the leading problems with the police department is protocol. The chain of command is very long, and that becomes a challenge in their operations. For instance, in some situations, the police officer on patrol needs to get the go-ahead message from the superior to arrest an offender even if they are right informed. There is a delay in response, and by the time the command is given, the offender has escaped. A key solution is to have a communication channel that will not require the seniors' approval in conducting the daily police operations. The aim is to make sure that the police have the right to decide for themselves will arrest a convict without asking for permission from the seniors.

The community will suffer if the police department is broken down in that manner. There will be wrongful arrests that might lead to violence and chaos. It is a good idea to have the police decide for themselves, but at times the decision might be wrong. Also, there will be discrimination within the community. There will be unlawful arrest towards a target community or race in the society. An example is the Black Lives Matter campaign, where the police would take actions with their hand leading to wrongful treatment of an offender. Sometimes the protocol is essential as it ensures everything is done according to plan and there is credibility in each of the actions taken.

It is possible to create greater trust in the community through the police department by sensitizing the public. The public needs to know their rights when encountering the police. The strategy will demystify the norms that are found in the community concerning the law. For instance, many people believe that the police can arrest them any time and, in most cases, they run immediately they see the cops. However, if they learn their rights, they will understand that that is not the way operations are conducted. Community members will realize that they cannot be arrested anyhow by the police as they have rights. People will be able to place their trust in the police force as their interaction will have been enhanced.

Another issue identified in the video is the low pay in the police force that effectively discourages them from conducting their operations. Most of the cases have been disrupted because the police are receiving bribes. Those who are going against the law are equally set free because the police force is corrupt. The best way to deal with the issue is to increase the wages of the police personnel. If there is satisfaction in the police department, they are less likely to receive bribes. The lawbreakers will be brought to justice, and there will be equality in the court of law.
