The book by Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist, is about a shepherd known as Santiago that went for a journey and realized his dream of being a “personal legend” after searching for treasure. On the way, Santiago encounters many obstacles and difficulties which make his journey to be an adventure. The most powerful theme and lesson that is learned from the book is that when a person decides to pursue their dreams and follow their heart’s desires, they will achieve what they want. The obstacles and hurdles that Santiago passed through made him stronger by following his heart. No matter the difficulty that he faced, Santiago always had a goal of being a legend.
Santiago also learned that following his heart is a language from God, and all obstacles and hurdles will pass. Therefore, the greater the number of obstacles that Santiago passed, the harder his heart became, making him overcome fear, and he trained his soul not to lose faith and hope but focus on the journey. Therefore, in my own opinion, the most important lesson that I learned from The Alchemist is that no matter the obstacles, everyone must ensure that they do it with all their heart and soul. This lesson is important to me because we mostly fail to use our hearts and soul as a guiding tool for our journey in life. I learned that it is only through our personal potential that we are aware of our souls' and hearts' desires. Therefore, by being aware of our potential, we can follow our hearts' and souls' desires that will help us succeed in life.

Personally, I am disappointed by myself in that as a professional baker and video blogger, I have not been able to bake as many cakes for my clients and my blog for over three months. I also set my targets of baking ten cakes per day and making a video blog per day. The excuse that I use for not baking more cakes and making more videos is lack of time. This excuse is due to my poor time management skills and lack of inspiration that I need to observe and correct. Deep down in my heart and soul, I desire to make sure I bake more cakes and make video blogs that will enable me to reach my potential. These excuses have led to the disconnection between my heart and self. Therefore, I have been disregarding and ignoring my own "personal legend." Consequently, we must not allow our life to be controlled by poor excuses that disrupt our hearts' desires. Finally, everyone has their own "personal legends," which is defined by their own identity, dreams, and what they want to achieve.
