The main role of a social worker is to ensure that they support people and or families in their difficult moments besides ensuring that they guide vulnerable people in the society towards securing better lives. It is a role that helps secure the most vulnerable people both children and adults from any potential harm. As a social worker, I can consider engaging the affected individuals in a personal way to ensure that I intervene and offer subjective intervention where faulty policies may fail to institute positive impact to the organizations or agencies I serve as well as to the population. Personal interventions include; creating awareness on self-protective behaviors, educating the affected people about their rights as stipulated in the constitution as well as acting as the link between the vulnerable people and the relevant organizations or agencies.
Social welfare policies play a critical role in providing stipulations on how social challenges affecting the society should be addressed as well as providing mechanisms of helping the vulnerable. However, many are the instances where lapses in social welfare policies affect the vulnerable people such as Luisa negatively due to the failure to understand the policies or the inability of the policies to address the challenges at hand. In the case of Luisa, the social welfare policies under the new federal changes in immigration laws allow her to apply for benefits and still sponsor her son because she is experiencing domestic violence (The Case of Luisa). However, she is not conversant of the provision a factor that drives her into the unnecessary uncertainty.

Policies affect social agencies in many ways. For instance the complexity of the new federal laws on immigration hindered Luisa from making the correct choices due to the fear of losing the chance to stay in the US. Having been legally married to Hugo, their separation should not lead to more problems because the social welfare policies available are in her favor. However, there needs to be a clear definition of how policies should positively influence the relationship between their clients and the organizations they serve. Due to the effectiveness of the available social welfare policies, Luisa was able to make a decision that positively impacted her life and the life of her children; she was freed from the shelter of domestic violence (The Case of Luisa).
Conclusively, policies effectively regulate how social welfare organizations and agencies relate with social workers and their clients while at the same time providing an avenue for securing the divinity of human life by fostering a culture of human rights protection. It was due to the reliability and efficiency of policies that Luisa who was initially socially isolated, a victim of domestic violence, financially depended on a violent husband secured a chance to live a better, independent life.
