A Greek philosopher Emmanuel Kant in his theory of “Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals, defines the two concepts (physics and morality/ethics) that ought to guide every human being in their daily activities. Kant defines physics as the idea of guiding how things happen in the world of material things while morals describe how things should happen in real life. According to Kant, physics and morality are related in that they both share common aspects in pure and empirical philosophy. Pure moral philosophy depends on a priori aspects of reasons since people presume that ethical responsibilities are binding for all human beings in all situations (Kant, 2017). People are obligated to develop a clear understanding of both morality and physics.

The value of morality and physics are all applied at Austin Community College’s (ACC) Concealed Campus Carry policy. In this policy, Kant’s concept of metaphysics helps in the formulation of laws that guide personnel within the campus on what involves Concealed Campus Carry. Moreover, the rules governing the handling of weapon are well outlined all over Texas. Both ethics and physics apply in the empirical philosophy established in this case. The law gives freedom for any person with at least 21 years to carry a handgun within the campuses without questioning. According to Kant, actions cannot be genuinely moral if they only appear to conform with set rules but devoid of moral motivations (Kant, 2017). Therefore, it is a moral responsibility of a firearm owner to put the gun out of sight in public places despite having the right to carry it along. Moreover, the law also prohibits all individual from carrying firearms in certain restricted areas such as alcohol zones and places with minors. The moral motivation behind this reasoning is that the mishandling of the weapon may occur, thus causing injuries.
