Million Man March was a gathering of African American men in Washington on October 16 of 1996. Over one million African American men gathered in washing DC on this date with an aim of expressing three agendas. The first agenda of this gathering was to advocate for the right of African American men to justice. Secondly, they wanted to take responsibility publicly for the areas they had failed as men. Finally, they wanted to declare that they would take responsibility as heads of their families henceforth. This highly attended historic event was meant for men to amend their wrong doings, reconcile and take commit to their responsibilities in families ( Wallace, 2004) .
There are several similarities with major differences between the Million Man March and the march on Washington held in 1963. The major similarity is premised on the fact that the two marches focused on the rights of a black man. However, the major difference was in the fact that while the Million Man March was majorly a reconciliatory and responsibility, the march on Washington was mainly a political and civil right in nature ( Gavins, 2007) . Whereas the Million Man March sought to bring together men with the aim of taking responsibility in families, the March on Washington advocated for freedom and jobs for blacks in America.

The Million Man March was greatly successful in addressing the issues of African American men in the society. The attendees were able to understand and advocate for their rights for justice in America. Furthermore, the role of men in the family setting was restored.
