As postulated in reproductive justice, sexuality-reproduction spectrum is structured by race, gender, and class. Regarding race, women of color have for a long time experienced what has come to be known as the reproductive punishment where the state and other organs deliberately refuse to support them with quality services, resources, and also interfering with their lives and decisions. Several ways in which race can be used as a tool for reproductive oppression include immigration restrictions, criminalizing pregnancy, and forced abortion witnessed in incarcerated women. Gender has also been used as a premise to impact people’s experiences with reproduction especially in situations where the LGBT individuals are prevented from parenting. The social and economic class is also a function of reproductive justice as people who are economically stable will be subjected to better reproductive health care than those from poor backgrounds hence leading to health disparities in the country.

Certain ways can be used to empower people within the current reproductive health system with regards to the reproductive choices in the society. Focusing on proper reproductive health is crucial as it seeks to solve the health needs of the individuals. It will emphasize on service, information and research. The second focus should be on the reproductive rights where the women have an opportunity to access legal frameworks on matters of their healthcare services. Thirdly, focusing on reproductive justice which involves identifying various forms of oppression and discrepancies in reproduction will also be a step in the positive direction.

Politicizing the reproductive health is a negative aspect that is counter-productive to both public health and social equality. Including politics in various aspects of women’s health can be dangerous because it takes away the focus from providing the concerned individuals with the most appropriate remedy. Introduction of politics in reproduction might also cause various decisions to be made on the basis of skewed facts. Depoliticizing reproductive healthcare requires building frameworks and structures that ensure that healthcare is managed by strong policies that are focused on yielding desirable results.
