Abstract

Osteopathic treatments operate as a naturopathic form of healing art that is applied in the body to enhance the entire healing process from any form of illness of injury. The act does not require the inclusion of medicines or any other removal of body tissues through procedures such as surgery or any other treatment intervention. The specific focus is relayed to the set regions and tissues which act as the main source of the pain and ailment. The use of osteopathy helps in the manipulation and strengthening of certain musculoskeletal frameworks within the body aspects to treat a certain body discomfort. The paper talks on how the medicines and treatments help in complementary therapy such as chiropractic care and the therapeutic massages that help in the management of hormonal changes during pregnancy to treat any form of acute pain. As a drug free form of treatment it is significantly applied to most patients to ensure that their health standards are boosted at all costs.

THE ORIGIN AND PROGRESSION OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE

Osteopathic medicine is a unique form in the American medical care that was developed in 1874 by the medical practitioners Andrew Taylor Still. Taylor was much dissatisfied with the effectiveness found within the medicine of the 19 th century. His belief was that the medications in the modern world are very useless and harmful towards one’s health. Most of his research details and clinical observations enabled him to believe that the musculoskeletal system plays a major role in matters of health and disease. His conclusion proved that the body is made of certain elements that maintain the body stability and health features once they are properly stimulated. In correcting the problems found within the body structure by including the use of simple and manual techniques under the osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM), it enables the body to function easily 1 . The body also adapts to certain features in that it can easily heal itself through improved patterns. Dr. Still also promoted the key idea on having a preventive form of medicine that is well endorsed through philosophy for most physicians to focus on treating patients apart from considering the features of the disease.

Even as the use of philosophy became an actual form of practice, the implicit beliefs formed a basic for the invention of osteopathic medicine through the newly introduced medical approach. A new school of osteopathic medicine was opened in Kirksville, MO in 1892 following the set medical conditions. The physicians who were licensed as Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) were required to pass either a national or state medical board examination that allowed them the rights to practice medicine. Under the field of medicine the osteopathic physicians were enabled to use the available tools through the inclusion of modern medicine such as the acts of prescription medicine and other forms of surgery. Also they were required to include the OMM techniques in their daily medical practice to help diagnose certain illnesses and injuries. The role was to help them relieve pain in most patients, enhance the body’s capacity to heal completely and restore the wellness in the range of motion.

As the osteopathic philosophy continues to evolve, a reflective feature is seen in the full treating aspects of an individual. Most DOs who serve in the primary care fields such as the pediatrics, general internal medicine and family medicine are required to employ relative osteopathic practices that are in line with the set medical standards. The factor enables them to operate in different regions like the rural and medically underserved areas that require an upfront framework in the medical attention for most patients. In the mainstream medical care most DOs relay a comprehensive medical care approach to most patients within the 50 states and the entire District of Columbia. The concept enables them to receive unlimited form of practice within 65 countries of the global society 2 . At the moment there are about 74,000 DOs practicing the medical care in the United States and specializing in surgery, emergency medicine, geriatrics, sports medicine and anesthesiology. Also the DOs play a key role in the healthcare grounds as policy leaders within the national, local and state levels. It enables them to practice their skills and ensure that a stability feature in medicine is fully upheld in the society.

Osteopathic medicine helps in ensuring that all the benefits found in the modern medicine including the acts of prescribing drugs are well utilized. Also it ensures that the randomized use of technology is fully incorporated when diagnosing certain diseases and the evaluation of injuries. The medical practice also creates an added benefit in the hands-on diagnosis and evaluation of treatments through a systematic approach called the osteopathic manipulative medicine. The use of osteopathic medicine therefore emphasizes on the need to help one another achieve a distinct level of wellness in the overall body condition by considering the need for heath promotions and other disease prevention patterns. The osteopathic physicians highly consider the need to work through partnership with most of their patients. The task enables them to apply the impacts of lifestyles and community reserves which are seen in the health of different individuals. They therefore operate in quest for breaking certain barriers within the good health standards. The DOs are thus licensed to ensure that the medical practice is fully incorporated within the 50 states 3 . They enhance their medical practices in different environments such as the military forces, aerospace medicine, surgery and the obstetrics.

As for the osteopathic philosophy it requires the DOs to apply their trained skills to examine a patient even as they are members of the medical school. They therefore see everyone from beyond the visible collections of organ systems and other body parts that are prone to injury and other infestation of diseases. The systematic approach towards the patient care demands proves that the osteopathic medical students receive the knowledge and skills on how to easily integrate most patients towards the health care process through acts such as partnerships. The DOs are also trained to establish a solid communication process with individuals who come from diverse backgrounds hence it grants them the opportunity to enhance their skills in different areas. The assigned signatories entail the different classroom contexts and learning laboratories that are frequently filed with the standardized and other simulated medical patients.

In creating a strong foundation towards the medical care it is essential to include the osteopathic medical profession in the analysis of all medical records of the affected patients. The technique creates a stable heritage where the primary care practitioners are allowed to apply their skills fully in patient care services. The osteopathic medical tradition also states that it promotes the creation of a foundation in primary care which makes most individuals better physicians even as they operate from different specialties and randomized medical practices. In availing services from the primary care physicians, it requires the application of osteopathic medicine which is a constant career in primary care demands 4 . The use of osteopathic medicine grants most individuals the capacity to provide care in most rural and urban areas. The DOs are required to portray a positive impact to the U.S. population by promoting their overall health and wellbeing.

In other situations, the protocol on quality care unto the patients presents an improved performance level in the health care environment where the medical providers relay better services. They entail those of reliable, cost-effective, and well-sustained healthcare processes for all the patients receiving medical care in the institution. The cost-effective grounds present a budget-neutral method where specific issues like process failure, errors, and poor outcomes are avoided for better development. The systematic approach grants medical practitioners an opportunity to attain their desired goals and improve the relative patient care delivery process. In other situations, it promotes the overall patient outcomes where they quickly recover since the services they receive significantly speed up their full recovery systems.

The basic curriculum applied in the osteopathic medicine entails the study of typical subjects from which they spend approximately 200 hours training to learn the aspects within the osteopathic manipulative medicine. The factors ensure that pain is fully alleviated, motion is restored, and the natural function of the body is fully supported and that the body structure is positively influenced to enable it function more efficiently. Some of the key concepts found applied by the osteopathic medical students are the fact that the use of structural body forms helps to influence certain body functions. When a problem arises in a certain part of the body structure which affects the whole functioning aspect of the area, it may influence the other operations found in the entire body areas. Another integral aspect of the osteopathic medicine is the body’s innate ability to heal itself from certain health conditions that may risk the stability and chance for better simulation of practices. Most of the osteopathic medical techniques help to reduce and eliminate certain health impediments to maximize the use of proper structures and whole functioning of the body. The factor helps relay a self-healing mechanism which applies certain roles to restore the normal health condition of a sick person.

In the normative practices in the medical grounds for the osteopathic clinicians the application tool is designated to assist in the primary care procedures in medical institutions found in the United States. Most DOs seek to identify the preventive medication services, specific screening procedures, and counseling roles for their patients that support every treatment practice involved in the osteopathic medical care 5 . The Prevention Taskforce data consultative practices require the whole recommendation aspect to identify the patient characteristics like the behavioral risk factors and elements of age and sex. In the relative requirement of care, the medical systems relays applicable decision profiles where they are used in primary care practices and in other settings where medical practitioners are found. The computer software program relatively promotes user performance. It ensures that the medical offices and osteopathic institutions in various states reduce every impending cost towards training its staff members and enhances the need to increase productivity levels and effective systems. The tool is quite beneficial in my career as a nurse since it enables me to pay keen attention to the present clinical procedures that require full attention and evaluation.

The basic health care standard in the osteopathic medical care that is essential to most patients requires proper services which maximize the healing process amongst the patients. There is an average level where most prudent providers in a community-based function manage to employ relevant practices based on the health care system in legal state situations. Therefore the most qualified practitioners present certain patient care services to improve the overall recovery conditions. The patient care standards it gets developed by an equipped osteopathic specialist who has the standard of care award at their discretion. It requires quality services processes when attending to the patients to boost their satisfactory factors as they undergo frequent medication in the institution. The whole osteopathic treatment practice entails a treatment practice guideline that allows the DOs and other specialists to administer proper treatment procedures from the medicines to the diagnosis prospects.

The modern osteopathic physicians have adopted a framework where they have invented the use of modern medicine which has helped cut the edge of the medicine world. The DOs have significantly managed to combine the use of certain medical technologies by significantly applying relative tools. It has enabled them to listen to their patients carefully and have a broad overview on the characters of their patients in situations where key diagnosis and treatment of injuries and other illnesses are included. The effectiveness of the osteopathic medicine is that it necessitates a platform in the treatment of asthma through the randomized controlled trials in the chest physiotherapy. The act entails the use of adjunctive treatments for pneumonia in most adults in the use of techniques which enhance the paraspinal inhibition levels. It also incorporates the use of rib raising features through the myofascial release patterns in the medical health care systems. The use of the systems does not affect the rate of mortality and rather increase the cure rate features. It helps reduce the overall time duration spent in the hospitals and other antibiotic usages.

In the meta-analysis of the quality evidence the effectiveness is noted in the way the osteopathic medicines help reduce pain and improve the overall functionality in situations of acute and chronic low back pains. Through the moderate quality evidences it helps reduce pain that is found within the back regions in the postpartum women and pregnant women. All the improvements incorporated therefore enhance a forward and backward direction in the entire control ability which therefore becomes dominant when improving the ankle joint movement. Through accurate diagnosis, medication, and treatment, it reflects all the opinions from the caregiver’s context. The mental health issues receive a proper diagnosis that makes the entire treatment protocol a great success. The whole system thus becomes a positive influence on the caregiving career. Caregiving helps inspire the urge to become a therapist based on a professional perspective since it grants them the chance to be trained to get the necessary skills for every treatment purpose.

From analyzing all the patient information relayed by the DOs, it equips the therapists with the maximum opportunity to easily navigate all the care system and interact with the key providers. Also, significant reports have been relayed to enhance the caregivers; affiliation purposes and entire members. It quickly enhances patient access through the proper medications dispatched towards the mental illness treatment. There are well-prescribed medications that seek to ensure that both the caregivers and the patients quickly access the beneficial mental health system. The settings have the crucial coordination and well-related information basis that grants an active outreach in the navigation procedures involved. In general, the ankle joint exercise program thus became relevant in the unstable supporting surfaces to establish the needed balance ability.

The static form of relaxation offers a certain elongation effect on the body muscle which ends up improving the whole range of motion in the body. It also helps reduce the whole musculotendinous stiffness in the muscles and reduce the level of risks caused by the acute muscle strain injuries that result. In the process a solid treatment was not found to help solve the issue on the musculoskeletal pain. Public health professionals also engage in long-term health safety plan to help monitor their nervous system and movement ability. Engaging in regular physical activities also helps enhance people’s overall body development and movement capabilities easily. The single strategies implemented in the target groups have helped establish concrete actions to counter the diseases amongst individuals either at a community level or on a societal basis. In the visceral osteopathy the efficacy techniques ensure that reliability evidences are well utilized to handle the back pains that exist.

The osteopathic medicine within the United States has led to the use of certain principles to help boost the medical philosophy. One of it states that the body exists as a unit which is made of the body mind and spirit. The second principle is on the ability of the body to self-regulate itself through self-healing patterns and other health maintenance issues 6 . Thirdly there is a distinct structure of the body that grants it the relative functions which are interrelated and reciprocate themselves. The last principle on osteopathic medicine states that the rational treatments are composed of interrelationships within the aspects of structure and function. Also, the health care professionals have set specific steps to help include the primary secondary prevention measures that make the individuals improve their movements and solve the problem. It entails creating specific supportive environments that enhance people’s core choices as they struggle to avoid the created negative implications. The rationale projects have secured specific community demonstration projects to prevent the disease extremity and relay pure action implementation priorities. The contemporary osteopathic physicians highly include practices on evidence based medicine techniques that enables them identify certain features within the health model.

The key significance of the osteopathic medicine is that it acts as kin to most factors in the field of medicine. It promotes a patient centered factor which helps emphasize the distinct roles in primary care physicians in the health care system. The American Osteopathic Association has included relative efforts to help support the effective techniques included in the osteopathic manipulation. It has helped most osteopathic physicians to report and relay relative treatments to their patients. In the international practice rights it requires the osteopathic physicians and osteopaths to be given licenses which state their requirements and treatment procedures. The techniques are applied by the osteopathic practitioners where the US Department of Education recognizes that they are learned individuals from the osteopathic medical colleges in the United States. A certain body has been formulated to help monitor the licensing and registration of most physicians in the different countries outside United States. The body works in line with the World Health Organization to maximize the operations of the medical institutions in enhancing the patient care services. Most countries globally recognize the presence of US trained MDs who apply for licensure features which grants them the ability to receive different practice rights in the health model. The full medical practice right enables them to apply their osteopathic abilities which are advocated through proper prescription of medications.

A rapid expansion has been witnessed in the osteopathic schools where solid debates have been initiated regarding the leadership of the American Osteopathic Association. It proves the major odds within the community complex of the osteopathic physicians which enabled them to apply their skills in the osteopathic world. In the osteopathic community the major growth has led to the identification of certain crisis faced in the society. Even with the presence of the osteopathic leaders they have significantly emphasized the osteopath’ unique form of identity to relay a unique factor as the treatments is processed by the DOs. An expansion of the DO schools has been initiated to enhance the availability of inputs within the private osteopathic schools. Therefore the use of the osteopathic medicines has led to improved systems in the training and practice activities. The availability of clinical and other basic science faculties have been improved since the clinical resources have been availed hence increasing the number of students learning the osteopathic study.

The Osteopathic Manipulative Treatments entail the use of a medical treatment information which is quite diverse n enhancing the osteopathic manipulations. The information helps inform all the patients on the key activities they ought to undertake towards having a more positive life. The caregiving act tells all the people on the critical illnesses to deal with and the work accommodations to enhance seeking treatment procedures. It will grant the patients the full chance of having ultimate self-confidence regarding the sessions they undergo through a more sympathetic platform. Utmost considerations are required when the caregiver presents the services since they must take care of the patients and the individual self for better results. Practical skills are highly applicable since they help enhance the relationship between them and the people through a more positive nature. The caregivers are also supposed to be concerned about other people’s health and wellness through the critical self-care system.

The osteopathic philosophy emphasizes on the basic relationship found in the structure and function of most features in the body to heal itself easily. The osteopathic manipulative approach significantly creates a mechanism where the normal body ability is well facilitated to regulate itself and heal itself by using the available mechanisms 7 . In the recent application of the medical practices it has relayed certain osteopathic manipulative techniques which have acted as a solid therapy for the needed management and treatment practices for most health conditions. The incorporation of manual therapies significantly offers an osteopathic practice which is utilized by the physicians to ensure that the needed patient care service is given to the involved parties. The recognition of two forms of osteopathic practice is given to patients which facilitates their recovery process. The medically trained osteopathic physicians enhance the treatment procedures by ensuring that they are given licenses to act as proof for their learnt abilities in the health care model.

The application of osteopathy emphasizes that the available body systems need to have a musculoskeletal system that operates in a unison sense. It creates a level of disturbance in one system and can easily alter certain functions of other body systems. In the OMT considerations it entails the use of craniosacral, strain counterstain and myofascial which are found in more than 100 individual forms of treatment. The OMT has been applied in the treatment of chronic and other acute symptoms that are linked to asthma. It has helped to demonstrate a utility function by increasing the vital capacity within the rib cage mobility. Also it has enhanced a major improvement practice within the diaphragmatic function by clearing the major airway secretions and other autoimmune functions. Most studies within the OMT efficacy have helped in the treatment of asthma and proved that the dosage features are quite applicable in enhancing the overall treatment. The key findings in the osteopathic practitioner treatments have proven that the treatment pattern chosen may affect any body part based on the physical examination creation. Some of the patients found within the vulnerable bracket are therefore helped since certain parts of the chest require appropriate breathing processes.

Therapies in Osteopathic Treatments

As for the initiation of practices that help in indicating the functional disorders and other relative diseases, it acts as a basic limitation for the synovial joint surfaces which requires a connective tissue application in most articular surfaces. The significant feature applies in the tissue tension which experiences the structural and other functional changes mostly in the skeletal region. The vertebral column thus applies certain systems of diagnosis to help in most body therapies which enhance the proper functioning of most tissues that are blocked. One entails the parietal system which entails a posture profile and other support function within the associated joints, fascia, muscles and tendons. Even with the changes in balance ability within the muscle region it leads to proprioceptive senses and other neuromuscular controls in the affected individual 8 . The static balance ability is therefore improved to ensure that the form of balance is promoted. The program stretching exercises also help in enhancing the balance abilities in the body whereby as the athletes move they can easily enhance their speed from the ankles. The next one is composed of the visceral system which is filled with the visceral organs around the vascular region, lymphatic cells, the neuronal structures and other applicable fascial features. Lastly, the craniosacral diagnosis system is applied in the regions of the skull spinal canal and the sacrum which is filed with the sutures, meninges, fascia and key membranes.

The use of the osteopathic medicinal effect relays solid techniques that maximize the release of certain tissue blockages. The act helps restore the normal tissue mobility within the body and other tension factors. The balance ability usually entails the need to improve the visual and coetaneous sensations which obtain the stimuli through the conscious and unconscious processes. When the intermittent proprioceptive sensory functions seem to deter the entire postural control ability is usually hindered in the body. As for the protective reflex ability it usually deteriorates since the joint movement ability for the postural forms are destroyed. Static stretching is a type of exercise where there is elongation of muscles through the inclusion of low forces and other forms of long duration in the overall body condition. In most practice features under the clientele for the osteopathic treatment it has proved relative evidences in the osteopathy effects for certain back pains. Most evidences have proven that through superiority functions through the use of manual medicines and chiropraxis it is uncertain that the efficacy of osteopathy can be used in the myofascial pain. All the treatments applied in the muscle regions and the fascia regions have maximized the inclusion of the DOs to help with the osteopathic treatments.

Benefits of Osteopathy

The key benefits entail the management of chronic pains which helps in the restoration of order in the body. The factor helps to reduce any form of discomfort from certain body conditions such as asthma, arthritis and the irritable bowel syndrome that may arise. As the treatment is being initiated it helps in the manipulation of the musculoskeletal system which is easily transferred within the underlying tissues and other relative organs 9 . The interception plan towards the flow of fluids in most tissues creates a self-healing process to help correct the structural damages.

The osteopathy practices are useful in the treatment of arthritis, neck and back pains and the full damage found in the tendon and ligament regions during an injury. In the underlying treatments for chronic pain the osteopathic therapies are efficient in reducing certain strains within the joint regions. It helps improve the overall posture and relieving tension within the adaptable range of motion without necessitating any form of stress.

The osteopathic treatments are essential during pregnancy since during that phase certain hormonal and structural changes occur which lead to a certain discomfort. The aspect of relaxing makes the tendons found in the feet to spread and the hips to adopt a different shape. The process helps in the muscle tension practices, handling of systemic stress and any other form of discomfort. The treatment practices acts as mitigation for body conditions that require the restoration of balance in the entire posture.

The osteopathic treatments help increase the muscular flexion and other acts of resilience that enhance the motion practices to prevent any form of injury and any tearing process. The aspect helps improve the body resiliency within the different tissues by strengthening them in situations where stress occurs. It also helps prevent any further damage to an injured part of the body by shortening the recovery time and decreasing the pain levels.

The treatments plays a major role as a complementary therapy such as the chiropractic care and the therapeutic massages that help in the management of hormonal changes during pregnancy to treat any form of acute pain. As a drug free form of treatment it is significantly applied to most patients to ensure that their health standards are boosted at all costs. The osteopathic treatment does not lead to any surgical complications or any addiction hence it is actively recommends as a safe practice in the health care model.

The whole procedure is performed by palpating and physically exploring the surface and deep tissues within the body framework. The protocol is conducted by feeling the body with bare hands in certain focal points such as the back, shoulder and joints 10 . The medical practitioners hence analyze the qualities found in the different tissues such as congestion, stiffness, motility dehydration, scarring, density and loss of resilience. The use of motility as a feature enhances the quality movement within the living tissues which determines their overall status and body condition.

Osteopathy helps bring certain psychological benefits by enabling the mind adapt a state of relaxation to help handle most treatment options. The whole protocol thus ensures that the whole circulation process is boosted by maximizing the lymphatic flow through a vascular response plan to enhance the whole healing process.
