A prayer is a tool that believers use to get closer to God for peace, guidance, and acknowledgment. It is imperative to incorporate prayer as an everyday routine for the sole purpose of living in the light and wisdom of God. Prayer for oneself, family, friends, leaders, the community, and the world at large is a powerful approach in maintaining Christian and healthy relationships. In the period I have been praying for, my life and those around me have significantly improved. My perspective on societal expectations has been refined. I see the world currently from an understanding, patient, accommodating, and loving perspective. During this time, the prime reason for prayer was to pray for leaders who directly and indirectly affect my family and community.
Moreover, the term leader does not necessarily imply someone in a position of power. A leader could be anybody who can influence my life and my society. The leaders I chose to pray for during this period are my role models who inspire my daily endeavors in education, career, and faith. They include my parents, siblings, professors, church and youth leaders, and local political figures.

The prayer journey is one to marvel. Reflections indicate the humanity and hard work each of the leaders I pray for depict how they interact with other people and me. Before prayer, it was not as readily evident. I am now able to understand and appreciate their decisions, dedication, and empathy. Through prayer, I am filled with positivity with how I see these leaders, and they are also able to see the positive impact they have in my life, which pushes them to continue in the same accord to me and others. I also believe prayers have worked into driving these leaders more into God's path and work. Most of them have become involved in Christian matters that stretch their impact more. My parents advise my siblings and me more and use scriptures to drive their point’s home.
Delving further into my prayer journey, the daily prayers entailed having love in the hearts and knowing God. I asked God and the Holy Spirit to give them strength and will be righteous in everyday turmoil and life decisions (Matthew 6:33). I prayed for peace in the hearts and minds of the leaders, which will allow them to be honest and just in life. Tentatively they will exist harmoniously with other people (John 3:3, Romans 12:16). I also prayed for God to heal these leaders' hearts from the hardships and pain caused in their daily roles. They should be able to move on from the hurt and live Christ-honoring lives serving God with love as well as the people they lead (Isaiah 61:3, Colossians 3:16-17). I prayed for mercy to be bestowed to these leaders and be merciful and honorable in their roles. They should pray earnestly, diligently, actively, and fervently like Elijah in seeking help and guidance from the Lord (I Kings 17:1, I Thessalonians 5:17). I also prayed for good health and God-oriented lifestyles for these leaders. They should exercise and meditate to maintain health and balance the stresses of their responsibilities (Romans 12:1, James 3:1-2). Finally, I prayed for the chosen leader to have the strength of not going down under pressure. As leaders, they are what we look up to, and they should not be discouraged. In times of difficulty, they should lean on God (I Peter 2:23).
In conclusion, reflections on my prayer journey on the leaders I chose has been an eye-opener and satisfying experience in bettering my life and those around me, with Christ in it. I can see my strengths and flaws and work on them, and in doing so, I can understand other people's strengths and weaknesses and be more accommodating of them and pray for them. Moreover, prayer is a tool for both good and bad situations. Prayer is an every moment event that improves the situation no matter how bad or good it is. I work with God in everything I do, lean on Him when I am discouraged, and sing His name when I am in abundance. Prayer brings you closer to God and the people you pray for, and in knowing Christ, the Holy Spirit allows you to see things in a new, improved, and authentic perspective. Leadership is a calling God directs, and I have come to value leaders and advocate for their success in fulfilling their duties. Being human, leaders need to be understood, encouraged, and help, and a prayer is a vital tool in that regard.
