The development of a philosophy is one of the most critical elements of success in every profession. The nursing field mainly encourages professionals to develop a philosophy that entails the principles they hold in the context of their work. My nursing philosophy in this context will be a foundation of my achievements in my nursing profession. Furthermore, my philosophy will be based on the provision of compassionate, competent, as well as optimal all-inclusive care to patients and the community to the best of my capability. Most of the values that were instilled in me since my early childhood will also be reflected in this philosophy because they are part of the beliefs and values that I believe in today. My personal nursing philosophy will reflect my beliefs, values, vision, as well as behavioral expectations that I will uphold in my nursing career.
Beliefs are the basis of my personal philosophy in nursing. It is my belief that to keep in line with the provisions of my philosophy education will play a vital role. I am a strong believer that the nursing profession is a never-ending learning process and thus, continued education is important in ensuring that one gets sufficient knowledge and skills to provide high quality patient care. Through continued education and research an individual gains vast information that can complete the knowledge one gets from experience (Sellman & Snelling, 2016) . Also, I believe that the cultural and social background and personal characteristics of the patients and their close ones should be respected. I have the confidence that my ability in this profession will enable me to continue developing without exercising any kind of discrimination of the patients. I also believe strongly in the provisions by professional bodies such as the American Nurses Association, especially in setting the standards of ensuring privacy and confidentiality, as well as the protection of the rights of patients and their close ones. I believe that I will work hard to be a strong promoter and supporter of a healthy community by working towards ensuring good health practices. My belief is that nursing supersedes being just a career, but it is also an honor that is taken upon by people who are compassionate about applying their knowledge, skills, and competencies to take care of others, especially in terms of supporting them in leading better and healthy lifestyles.

My personal values that I have also applied in other areas of life include honesty, kindness, integrity, persistence, continued learning, family, as well as success in everything I do. I use these core values to make decisions and solve problems in my daily life. I have a strong belief that nursing is successful in achieving better patient care because of such values as integrity, knowledge, and persistence. My focus will be on patient safety, care, needs, empowerment, as well as healing. I feel that my personal core values are in line with the ones required by this profession and that I am at a better position to uphold them in my career. Once I gain the qualities to become a better nurse in my practice, I will need to implement persistence as a value that will propel me towards achieving better care for patients and their families. I will also need to use the value of continued learning so that I can gain better knowledge and skills that can enable me to become more successful in the future. I will continue my daily tasks with confidence that I become a better nurse each day and that I will always stand to monitor my actions to ensure that I am on the right track and developing better nursing practices.
My behavioral expectations are that nurses should conduct according to the set personal and professional ethical standards. While exercising one’s beliefs and values in the nursing profession, it is important to abide to the provided code of conduct. When I find that there is a conflict between my personal values and beliefs, and those of the patients or their representatives, I make an effort to find a mentor who can help me through my conflicts. Such helps me in finding a solution that is able to solve the conflict while meeting my needs and those of the patients I serve. I also ensure that I take accountability of my actions. Through my actions, I interact with other nurses and healthcare professionals whom I hold with high regard as great resources. I feel that they derive recognition and respect, which I ensure my conducting myself in ways that will encourage teamwork at a higher level. Together, we can collaborate to provide better serves as I also seek to improve my image in my profession through ethical work behaviors and actions.
I have the vision that successful nursing practices need a pragmatic approach, while ensuring unity in patient care, which I believe matters most, as well as diversity through which the ultimate outcomes are achieved. The approach embraces the challenges of health experiences and suggests that I need to work within a variety of knowledge, skills, and paradigms, while making the most viable decision that will ensure consensus with other stakeholders (Sellman & Snelling, 2016) .
As a developing nurse, I am eager about my future in developing better knowledge and skills to enhance patient care. Through applying my philosophy of nursing in everything I do, I have turned more confident concerning my values and beliefs on the nursing practice. I have also renewed my faith for the possession of more knowledge and experience to articulate my dreams for a healthy community.
