The role of power and influence in leadership is to encourage the people being led to embrace change and confront challenges in their environments by providing them with space and ample opportunities to prepare and be ready for those problems. Hence, power and influence continually organizes, motivates, and orients the focus of others on mechanisms that foster personal growth as well as strengthen their abilities to deal with their problems. Inspirational leaders possess certain traits such as oratory prowess that motivates others to achieve more. To inspire others, a leader must be a good communicator who can clearly articulate his or her vision to others to enable them to not only share that vision but also own it (Lieberfield, 2013). Secondly, inspirational leaders are adaptive in the sense that they constantly prepare their followers to deal with unexpected circumstances in their lives or careers ( Barabasz, 2016). As a result, the people being led derive some sense of security and stability from their leaders because they know what to expect and ways to deal with it. Adaptive leadership style equips followers morally and materially to be able to independently confront the challenges they encounter in various aspects of their lives. A third inspirational trait is determination, which ensures that the people being led maintain their strategic momentum in pursuit of their goals even in the midst of challenges (Muralidharan, 2004). The qualities that foster effective leadership include self-confidence. Indeed, confidence is contagious, and therefore, a self-confident leader can easily boost the morale of others and unleash their potential. In essence, an effective leader does not doubt himself. Lastly, effective leadership calls for intelligence. The leader ought to think through situations and make informed decisions as well as provide solutions to both commonplace and complex problems.
