The protection of human research subjects within research is an important aspect that helps in enhancing the reliability of the information provided by the participants. In healthcare, the protection of human research participants helps in promoting confidentiality of the information supplied considering that healthcare information requires to be secure. The protection of the human research subjects involves the implementation of policies that ensure that human participants engaging in research receive utmost protection to ensure that there is no any form of danger that they may face during the study. The development of the policies to protect the human participants it is necessary to identify the vulnerable populations that are at risk in a bid to identify the appropriate strategies that require implementation. Additionally, it is essential to understand the principles and guidelines for research involving human participants, which is an aspect that helps in making effective decisions.

Question 1

The implementation of a policy to protect human subjects in research is attributed to different circumstances. Firstly, the human subjects in research face danger associated with manipulation from the researchers to provide the information required (Wolf et al., 2015). The second circumstance involves the biasedness of information when dealing with human subjects within the research. The human subjects within the study may experience different forms of harm, which may interfere with their ability to capitalize on effectiveness. Firstly, human research subjects may suffer physical harm, which is an aspect that is associated with physical injuries in cases when the participants do not comply with the requirements of the researchers. Secondly, the researchers may experience psychological harm owing to factors associated with the situations that the participants are exposed to that lead to aspects such as feeling embarrassed, shameful, or guilty. Lastly, human participants may face legal, social, or economic harm resulting from different aspects concerning the researcher.

Question 2

Engaging in research that involves human population is an aspect that requires a proper analysis of different aspects that may result in any form of harm among the human subjects engaging in the research. When focusing on healthcare research, human participants are crucial as they provide significant information that is relevant for enhancing the delivery of quality care within the industry. The vulnerable populations among the human research participants include the children, the elderly persons, and the physically challenged people in the society (National Research Council, 2003). The given vulnerable populations experience restrictions that are associated with each population considering the different needs associated with each group. The requirements and restrictions of each population are distinct; for example, the children are required to receive constant care during the research as compared to the elderly. Although the restrictions and requirements are unique based on the population, they are adequate, considering that they help in enhancing the research process. The restrictions act as a special measure of ensuring that the specific population can engage in the research efficiently.

Question 3

The ethical principles and guidelines summarized in the Belmont report are necessary for analyzing factors associated with the protection of the human population engaging in research. The three principles that include respect for persons, justice, and beneficence are an important aspect that helps in ensuring that research engages in measures to protect the human research participants (Shalowitz & Miller, 2005). Although the mentioned principles are crucial when dealing with research, I would consider the principle of respect for persons as a priority when dealing with human participants in research. The consideration for the principle is based on the fact that it is ethical to ensure that all participants in the research receive adequate respect in a bid to ensure that that they receive equal treatment regardless of their factors. The second principle based on priority entails justice, which is an aspect that focuses on ensuring fairness among all the participants engaging in any given study. Justice is an element that focuses on promoting a balance for everyone within any given situation. Lastly, I would focus on beneficence as a principal with the least priority.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the protection of human research participants helps in promoting confidentiality of the information provided considering that healthcare information requires to be secure. It is necessary to understand the principles and guidelines for research involving human participants, which is an aspect that helps in making effective decisions. The human subjects in research face danger associated with manipulation from the researchers to provide the information required, thus the need for the implementation of a policy that seeks to ensure protection. Engaging in research that involves human population is an aspect that requires a proper analysis of different aspects that may result in any form of harm among the human subjects engaging in the research. The three principles that include respect for persons, justice, and beneficence are an important aspect that helps in ensuring that research engages in measures to protect the human research participants.
