Knowing your purpose often is about being aware of your objectives and whatever you want to accomplish. Someone who has a purpose always acknowledges future possibilities optimistically and commits himself towards accomplishing the goal. Having skills in leadership and being aware of your purpose does not happen overnight. It is a process that takes time with steady progress. The process can be slow; however, the results can be impressive, of course, by teaming up with others. My determination as a leader is to be an authentic leader, one who can stand firm for my team, one who can ever bring value, to be reliable, responsible, and driving results.

In "Finding Your True North: A Personal Guide," the book illustrates that authenticity call for a leader to be passionate and genuine towards their purpose. This means that a leader must be true to himself and what they believe in (Craig et al., 2008). Being a leader means that people are looking up to you for guidance and directions. Similarly, in the healthcare organization, leaders are expected to make smart and tough decisions to lead change, maintain accountability, and make people trust your decisions and believe in the transformation you make.

According to Craig (2014), leadership purpose defines the kind of leader someone is and what makes him distinguishing. Having a purpose and being deliberate indicates that you are dedicated to acting in a particular way. The purpose statement that you have is a perfect statement of leadership that integrates your weaknesses, strength, who you are in general, and your visualization of the future prospects for your purpose (Craig, 2014). I chose to maintain my authenticity. This has been possible by examining my leadership skills if they can be admirable, if someone could want to follow, or wish to emulate. Effectiveness in the leadership role entails the capacity to reflect beyond your role. In turn, this demands collaborations, taking the initiative, and establishing responsive loops. A leader should also possess essential qualities that can define him as a stable leader. Demonstrating a professional level of self-awareness and calmness in critical situations indicates the level of emotional intelligence the leader has.

The book "The Leadership Challenge" by Barry Posner and James Kouzes has contributed positively to my leadership skills. From the different stories and case scenarios of the book featuring leaders from various industries, executing different functions, and using different styles, leaders can improve to their personal best, hence focusing on their purpose. There are also influential statements from the book that give positive incite, such as statements concerning leadership and trust. Trust is established via appreciating one another’s values and acknowledging our experiences and what we advocate for. For this to happen, we need to be open to one another and vulnerable among ourselves. Thus we can build the foundation of trust and values (Posner & James, 2017). Therefore, I need to be transparent and authentic as an effective leader. Effective communicating is an important skill as a leader. For a couple of months, I have been working towards improving my communication style.

Building a firm leadership also motivates the employees hence building a positive working environment. When the leaders are supportive of the team, they build a stable team. Inspiring the team also plays a big role, which in turn brings good performance. Leadership is more of directing people, and it involves prioritization, focus, and insight. I am committed to being a better description of myself. This implies that I should focus on effective communication and understand my leadership style and find opportunities to motivate individuals to work together effectively.
