What did you learn from Blashfield et al.’s history lesson?

From Blashfield et al.’s history lesson I have learned that before creating DSM-III, Robert Spitzer, the leader of that innovative classification system, had created a partnership with psychiatrists from the Washington University to create a broader classification system that would serve as a precursor to the DSM-III. I have learned that this pre-DSM-III was known as the Research Diagnostic Criteria (RDC) and focused on types of psychotic and depressive ICD-11 and the DSM-5 progressed very much in parallel, with many people taking part on corresponding workgroups for both manuals.
