The rate of crime and criminal activities, especially gang violence has been on the rise in the recent past. It is essential that as a country, America put in place strict measures to discourage crime. These measures should include implementing and monitoring a national action plan for violence prevention. These should consist of lessons and exposure to the consequences of crime. Most people tend to act at the moment not realizing the consequences of their actions, such as substance abuse. If the young generation is made to understand the consequences of their actions, they are likely to think through their actions first. The second step to prevent crime is to advocate for active recreational and economic activities. Most crimes are committed out of sheer excitement driven by idleness, and poverty. If this energy is channeled the right way, much of criminal cases can be prevented. The other reason why crime occurs is dysfunctional families. Most families tend to be dysfunctional or engage in misconduct, prompting the young generation of such a family to follow suit.

The due process can be described as the fair treatment through the standard judicial system, emphasizing on the aspects of a citizen's entitlement to notice of the charge and a hearing before an impartial charge, and stresses on the accused person's innocence until proven guilty by a court of law. The due process is one of the ethical aspects of the judicial, because at the increased crime rates and cover-ups, it is easy to have anyone implicated in a crime they know nothing about, and anyone can be innocent, just as much as they can be guilty. The due process by building on fair treatment promotes the freedom and rights of the American citizen, as well as protecting their dignity (Zirkel & Scala, 2010). The judicial system is one of the ways to control crime. By taking on strict disciplinary measures against individuals found guilty of the felony, many citizens are discouraged against crime.
