The ratification of the Constitution brought a massive debate between the Federalists and the antifederalist. They disagreed on if a strong government would help preserve or destroy the rights of the people of America. However, The Constitution needed to be rectified as there was a need for a strong central government that could be used to protect the citizens’ rights and their freedom. A strong government was necessary for the leading of the new nation. It was also a tool that was to ensure it protected more bills of the right of the citizens.
The strong central government was a great way of ensuring economic growth as the federal government could ease the business transactions making the business better in the country (Krutz & Waskiewicz , 2019). The government can collect taxes that it can use to develop the infrastructure that would benefit the citizens. The Constitution created a government inclusive of the three branches, the executive, legislative and judicial. The power was divided into three branches to prevent any part of the government from becoming stronger than the other.

The Articles of Confederation was the first governing system of the United States, which had many weaknesses that led to the states requesting the creation of a new Constitution. The Articles created a weak government as it placed all the powers to the state. There were no taxation laws or a robust judicial system (Brinks et al., 2019). The weaknesses caused the United States to have different problems, especially economic problems.
The federal government did not have the power to taxation, which meant they did not have money to run the economy. To address the weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation, the new Constitution allowed a strong central government by creating the courts and the taxing powers. Congress was given the power to regulate business in states and other countries, which meant that the United States had a chance to grow and develop under the new Constitution.
