The Registered Nurse (RN) Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) course has helped me establish my passion for nursing and finesse my nursing philosophy created during the first N3345 Transition class to Profession Nursing. The nursing statement that defines me reads: I believe in the universality of healthcare as an alleviator of pain and suffering for patients and their families. I also think a nurse's primary role is to reduce rehospitalization prevalence and patient mortality in the best way possible. Therefore, I will harness my education, values, ethics, and purpose to help the hurting society experience relief whenever I can, in my best ability. Although my nursing philosophy was vague and did not provide a definitive career path when I started degree, my participation in several RN BSN classes has helped me chart a new course in the healthcare industry. I will leverage my philosophy in the next five, ten, and 15 years to help society's underserved, such as persons living with HIV and AIDS.
During one of my nursing classes last semester, we highlighted exigencies that patients in rural communities with diseases, such as arthritis, HIV, and cancer encounter, which propels their expeditious deaths. I realized that I could use my philosophy to advocate for the underserved in my community in the first two years after graduation, by sponsoring civic education seminars in my rural center to train HIV patients on cheap methods of managing their condition to suppress their viral counts and write to the federal government for an increased anti-retroviral medication supply ( Kristoffersen, 2018). In five years, I will be a nurse leader in my local healthcare facility to ensure the hospital has adequate staff for handling HIV patients and in ten years, I will be a member of the federal healthcare committee, where I will advocate for increased deployment of qualified nurses in the rural areas for the adequate handling of HIV patients in my community.

Since I joined the BSN RN program, I have changed my attitude towards underserved persons in society by embracing them as integral socio-economic drivers in the community. Initially, I perceived individuals living with HIV as deserving of their condition since I believed they engaged in premarital sexual encounters that prompted their conditions. I also did not physically associate with HIV patients before I started attending RN BSN classes because I thought they would infect me and that they were outcasts that should be shunned by society. However, my behavior has changed, and I no longer associate HIV positive persons as being outcasts to be ignored or having acquired their condition from careless sexual intercourse ( Reed, 2017). The RN BSN program has enabled me to learn that there are innocent children who contract HIV at birth and that there are spouses who were infected by their promiscuous partners, who do not deserve to be denigrated by other society members.
I am a lifelong learner because I believe in medical research to enhance evidence-based care, which is critical for advancing care for underserved communities. Clinical studies are a continuous process, and new shifts keep being introduced in the healthcare industry. Therefore, I am ready to embrace new technologies or illness management strategies presented by healthcare research outcomes, which are performed continuously as my learning process. Moreover, I believe that patients are unique and that handling the latter will accord me new learning platforms as I administer care. Even after my retirement, I will centralize my focus on providing free consultations for HIV patients through the non-profit organization I will start.
