The Renaissance period is the period of rebirth, rediscovery, in this time the arts came to life. Leonardo da Vinci fully embodies the art principle of the Renaissance. In modern times Da Vinci’s artwork masterpieces are widely recognized. Most of his arts are famous in all together in the Renaissance periods and in the contemporary times. Nonetheless, his paintings are beyond a mere alluring picture; every single one of his masterworks has created lasting impacts in today’s world. In this paper, we are going to discuss the principle used by Leonardo da Vinci in most of his artworks, and how it is applied in the contemporary renaissance.

In the 15th and 16th century Leonardo da Vinci’s works of art gives the most beautiful example Italian Renaissance concept, techniques, and principles. Similar to the other Renaissance artists, he dwelled mostly on religious or semi-religious representations as for his themes. There is uniqueness in Da Vinci’s works that project from his artworks, which defeat his peers and generations of his arts. The distinctiveness in his portraits has eccentric impacts on a viewer for his unusual scientific tactic regarding his works. In the case of his two legendary paintings Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, he is among he is among the few of artists who have mastered the vanishing point technique. This concept entails the creation of unique depth perception as well as three-dimensionality into a two-dimensional frame, by intersecting the painting background diagonally.

In the Last Supper, the sitting arrangement of Jesus and his disciple appears evenly balanced, and representative displayed in a three-dimensional manner wherein the wall looks to be uniting inwardly. On the other hand, Mona Lisa creates the illusion of the portrait staring at someone regardless of the position of the portrait frame. The contemporary pavilion in architecture has assumed the vanishing point principle where the structures give an illusion of space and depth to three-dimensional perception. For instance, Metropol Parasol, in Seville is an excellent example of a modern pavilion. When you look at this structure, you get an illusion of depth.

In conclusion, Da Vinci’s work is widely applauded in the contemporary art today, as he is the pinnacle of the discovery of excellent art pieces and inspiration to many artists, architectural designs.
