Notably, police practices experts, through their testimonies, influence litigation process and its outcome significantly. The impact of expert opinions on legal cases depend on a number of factors including qualification of the expert, methods used at arriving at the testimony, and the extent to which they cover facts ( Kruger, 2004) . The extent to which expert opinion might impact litigation also depends on the degree of the mentioned factors. That said, police practices experts, according to the author, can either be instrumental or extremely detrimental to various legal actions and judicial proceedings.

The justice system is designed to allow expert opinion in legal processes and also determine the outcome of certain cases. As such, forensic phlebotomy is no exception; there can be instances where expert opinions can approve or disapprove some evidences produced by forensic phlebotomist. Sometimes, when the evidence conflicts with testimonies from experts, courts have the power to reject the evidence and work with the views from the expert. Because of this nature of relationship, the article recommends a few strategies to prevent these complications. Some of them include evaluating the relevance of the opinion to a case, analyzing procedures followed when raising the opinion, and examining the qualifications of the expert.
