Patients deserve care that is centered on their unique needs.,which requires the transformation not only in the nurses' roles but also in the health care environment. This has led to the need to rethink the emerging role of advanced practice nurses in changing the health care environment towards these needs (Swan et al., 2015). Advanced nurses play a great role in improving the health care environment by creating a more accessible, high quality, and value-driven care environment. The advanced nurses have remained at the core of quality improvement in the health care setting by applying the most effective and best-practices to enhance patients outcomes (Bryant ‐ Lukosius et al., 2016). They lead in care coordination, transitional care, and value-driven care central to the transformation of the health care system. The advanced practice nurses practice to the fullest of their education and training, offering a quality care environment that adds value while reducing the costs.

Advanced practice nurses work in collaboration with other health care professionals, including physicians. As they create a high quality and value-driven care environment, this emerging role of nurses will augment the physicians' practice. In collaborative care, the APNs will work with physicians to provide high-quality care based on value for patients (Smolowitz et al., 2015). Physicians are crucial in the health care setting, and collaboration with APNs will lead to the overall quality of care for the patients. The Affordable Care Act will, in turn, put more demand on the care workers by offering them more opportunities to create value-driven and quality care. ACA will require health care organizations to provide care that is based on quality and not quantity.
