The ever-changing healthcare environment demands individuals who are dynamic and can withstand the challenges of the profession. The profession demands that, those who take part in it be inspiring role models and leaders who understand the needs of their patients. Nurse leaders are instrumental individuals in facilitating the change of the healthcare system. Resultantly, a nurse leader is an individual who can influence others through relevant insights and communication ( Vaismoradi, Griffiths, Turunen, & Jordan, 2016) . Such leaders have a vision for the future. The nurse leaders are a critical component for the success of the healthcare industry. The need to improve quality of care is dependent on the quality of nurse leaders that the industry nurtures. In effect, nurse leaders are instrumental drivers for the delivery for health service performance.

Communication 

The nurse leader plays an instrumental role in defining the decision making process. The nurse also undertakes the oversight of several processes within the health facilities that they serve. Nurse leaders play instrumental roles in coordinating the efforts of other junior nurses within the health facility. Accordingly, the nurse champions for problem-solving approaches and collaboration whereby their advocacy actions champion for the provision of adequate resources to meet organizational needs ( Boyko, Carter & Bryant‐Lukosius, 2016) . Similarly, nurse leaders ensure that they offer relevant training to newly recruited nurses. The process plays an instrumental role in enabling new nurses to get acquainted to their new working environment. It also plays a vital role in instilling the relevant advocacy skills as stipulated by the organization policies such as communication, problem solving, and collaboration.

Training 

One of the tenets of nursing care is to ensure the delivery of quality and safe patient care services. Nurse leaders play vital roles in contributing to the safety standards of health facilities. Nurse leaders acquire relevant training through academic experience and training. In effect, they support the implementation of research principles, which support the improvement of care quality and safety. Similarly, nurse leaders pioneer for the utilization of evidence based practice methods, which have proved to be effective on delivering optimal care standards among patients.

Budget 

Another key role of the nurse leader is to ensure lateral integration of care plans with other disciplines. Accordingly, the nurse leader presents client concerns to the discipline that will support action plan in terms of financial resources. Effective integration of care ensures that patients receive the care they require thus improving their life quality. Accordingly, allocating enough financial resources and ensuring that the concerned budgetary plans in the same position the nurse acts as a patient advocate problem solver and navigator. In effect, the nurse can champion for the implementation of policies that would help such patients lead better life quality.

Change Management 

Regarding the care standards, the nurse leaders ensure that they develop the appropriate care standards that would lead to the wellbeing of their patients ( Vaismoradi, Griffiths, Turunen, & Jordan, 2016) . One of the ways that nurses can improve patient safety is by advocating the implementation of patient-centered environments. As such, he patient can share a vision for excellence whereby the client also receives a chance to take part in their care plan. Patient centered environments foster for the implementation of care options that the client advocates and understands its implications on their health. Resultantly, the nurse leader ensures that an action plan in support of patient-centered care environments is developed. The nurse leader ensures that there is the development of effective treatment plans and the management of the medical teams. Similarly, the nurse leader will support disease prevention efforts while advocating for health promotion activities

Authority 

Another role of the nurse leader is to ensure regulatory compliance. As initially mentioned, the dynamism of the health sector implies that nurses deal with several delicate issues. Working with human beings to ensure their wellbeing demands high levels of compliance with set federal, and association facilities. The nurse leader ensures that their facilities comply with the relevant standards of operation ( Boyko, Carter & Bryant‐Lukosius, 2016) . The call to leadership implies that the nurse responsibility is to ensure that the facility they lead meets the stipulated federal, state, and organizational regulations pertaining to the delivery of quality health services. Furthermore, the nurse leader will develop amicable policies to guide their junior employees while at work. He processes ensure that patients are guaranteed of high standards of care in the facility that they are receiving treatment.

Conclusion 

Nurse leaders must strive to emulate the standards of good management. Fostering for professional growth plays instrumental roles in ensuring that the nurse teams that they work with grow professionally to satisfy the demands of their working environment. Effectively, the nurse leader must be a critical thinker, great teacher, ideal human resource professional and a skilled communicator. The need to advocate for standards that determine care quality implies that nurse leaders ought to demonstrate high standard of leadership that cut across all segments to deliver quality care standards. Effective nurse leaders demonstrate their competence through their leadership capacities in delivering high standards of care in the sector.
