The purpose for writing this paper is to highlight the significance of the Wright Brothers and their first flight on how it revolutionized the air transportation system and hence changing human lives for the better the air transportation system began its evolution in the early 19 th century before the First World War happened. It was until the year 1901 that a businessperson addressed a group of distinguished engineers on a project that he and his brother had begun. The Wright brothers spent the next half a decade in designing an aircraft. Though they had been various engineers, who had who had developed heavier than aircraft. French engineers developed the first aircraft. The flight went 20 centimeters above the ground but covered a distance of fifty meters, which at that time was a significant distance.

The Wright brothers were incredible, though they never attended any college they mostly spent their time doing mechanical work and trying to figure some inventions. At that, they had imagined how air transportation would save and be of the convenience of millions of people. Many people did not believe in their vision but still, they went on to figure out a solution. Currently, in this modern day and era airplanes are used for various purposes, transportation being the leading purpose of an airplane, the air force, and NASA experiments all depend on airplanes. The Wright Brother’s invention was just the right kind of invention the world was waiting for. Though their invention only a few for a few seconds they started a spark that would ignite a huge fire in the air transportation industry. After they had flown the airplane with a crowd watching, the word spread about them, and they became well known for the invention of the first airplane in the world. The then president, Theodore Roosevelt paid them heavily to exercise and apply their invention in building planes for the U.S army. Later in the years, the aircraft industry was enabled by the emergence of the use of computers and the first computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing begun in the period of 1970s. The development of the internet in the millennium further aided the aviation industry in developing and manufacturing better aircraft designs (Yogananda, 2003).

The universally accepted date that kick-started the evolution of air transportation and aviation was in 1903. The Wright brother’s aircraft had both power and control, which set up a new standard in aviation. Though they had many critics at that time, they continued with their innovation and overcame technical setbacks and ensured that they flew. They also had little in the way of preparatory science to guide them in the construction of the aircraft, the dynamics of flights came from observing birds and taking notes. The first air transportation began in Florida in 1914. It lasted four months, and it operated between St Petersburg and Tampa. Air travel was made more accessible in the 1920s and 1930s. The time was characterized by explosive growth in civil aviation. This period enabled for more comfortable and convenient for public air transportation.

During the end of world war, two major towns and cities had developed their air transportation systems including airports. By the end of World war two, military aircraft were redesigned and repurposed to carry out public transportation, and some were repurposed to private planes. It was this period after the world war two that the Chicago Convention was established otherwise known as the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The primary objective of the convention was to standardize the safety, efficiency, and consistency of all civilian flights (Schooner & Castellano, 2016).

The inventions of the Wright brothers changed the lives of people because people and other inventors opened their eyes fully and came to realize that something can be built to fly. This was a heads up for many who joined the aviation industry in order to better the invention of the Wright brothers. The airplanes were heavily used during the world war, commercial aviation hadn’t picked up yet, because most people were afraid to ride in the new flying machines. This was because of the slow improvements in the aviation industry. The world war made the demand for airplanes and production was increased significantly. Airlines were developed in l the nineteenth century and they figured that they had to attract more passengers. They would need larger and faster airplanes and safer airplanes since most passengers feared to ride on those airplanes. This period was also characterized by improvements in aircraft. The first modern passenger airline was unveiled in the year 1933. The airline was a ten seater and traveled at 155 miles per hour, it was a better one compared to other airlines that had been invented. The transportation by air is considered the greatest invention in human history and it was a result of the Wright brothers (Johnson-Laird, 2008).

The aviation industry later got the breakthrough when the Parliament passed the Air Transport Corporation Act in 1953. It required the Indian Airlines Corporation to run domestic services and AIR India to run external services. People’s lives changed for the better because the airline is considered fast and reliable. It is the greatest invention of human history and in the modern world it transportation must be fast. Airplanes are fast and convenient for transporting people and goods. Airlines are less costly since a few infrastructures are needed as a medium, unlike railways and road transport where construction of roads and railway lines must first be completed (Johnson-Laird, 2005).

The use of airplanes has proved to be a significant mode of transportation for people in the modern day era. The government has heavily relied on airplanes for military and diplomatic purposes. The government has shown its support in the aviation industry by formulating rules and policy that ensure and safeguard the people using airplanes. The Wright brothers indeed revolutionized the aviation industry with their first flight. It has been proven that there is more reliability in the aviation industry when it comes to transportation than any other means of transportation. Human lives have changed incredibly ensuring the world is a global village. With the help of the internet, airplanes have been modernized and one can book their flight at the comfort of their places. The Wright brothers also changed the lives of many with their invention since the benefits are seen many years later after people made improvements and modifications to their inventions. It was their idea to invent the flying machine from the observations they kept making from flying birds. Their invention at that time was ridiculous and many people didn’t believe in them, the idea they passed across was that it is possible to come with the flying machine. Though at their exhibition for flying their aircraft, only two publishing newspapers published the Wright brother’s story, it was an inevitable idea. The idea prompted meetings by French engineers to better their invention. This also came to a success when the Wright brothers were sponsored by the government to manufacture more aircraft for the government. This was a huge step in the aviation industry. At first, people feared to ride on those planes and were skeptical about the idea, the planes were majorly used for government operations especially during the world war. Inventions of safer and faster planes in the 1950s eradicated the fear people had on flying such planes and that was the first time an airline was commissioned to fly people to a certain point (Bereiter, 2009).

Airplanes play a significant role in our lives, it is now possible to travel across the globe within a week. Though they exist mysterious accidents involving airplanes like the Malaysian MH370 that disappeared mysteriously, the success of the aviation industry is overwhelming. Airplanes are crucial in daily life and all this is owed to the Wright brothers who nevertheless went to college use their innovation and creativity in making a flying machine that only flew a few seconds. This was made possible by the observation of birds. It changed the world forever, it was through their invention that scientists in the nineteenth century dared to fly to space. The Wright brother’s innovation is the mother of flying machines. This is also caused by industrialization and modernization. People started thinking outside the box and coming up with different inventions that helped establish modernization. We can easily conclude that the rise of the internet was a result of airplanes. This single invention by the Wright brothers is a significant moment in human history. People became daring and that is how modernization was achieved. Therefore the Wright Bother’s invention of the airplane has played a major role in changing the lives of people, though the world has experienced some accidents related to air transportation, the success of the aviation industry outweighs the failures it has had over the years.
