Personal reflections among students have become vital in clarifying, understanding, and sharing the learning criteria and intentions for success. A personal reflection is vital in making sure that future goals have been analyzed. Future goals include both academic and professional future.
Future goals
Future goals include both professional and academic goals. My goals are closely related to the current degree which I am pursuing, more specifically a bachelors degree in Aviation Aerospace Technology, in other words, being a Helicopter pilot. It is worth noting that the level of competition of this kind of pilot jobs is often high. The most competitive career that provides pilots the highest salaries is often found in the field of emergency medical services or EMS, external load operations, offshore oil support, firefighting, and other jobs that are high-paced and adrenaline-pounding. Considering the fact that I want to be successful in the future, I wish to get the most competitive careers. However, I will not be able to start at the top, but need to make future academic and professional plans that will help me to achieve my objectives. The academic goals include getting the right training and guidance as I pursue my degree. Just like any other pilot, I plan to begin by getting my degree in Aviation Aerospace Technology. After getting my degree, I will make sure that I cover between 1,000 and 1,500 hours of flight time so that I can get hired in entry-level careers. These hours are vital because they are a form of insurance requirement for most companies. Future professional plans include getting the most competitive jobs. In addition, I wish to travel around the world so that I can get enough experience in the aviation industry. Such an experience will help me to achieve the necessary requirements that will help me enter the field of the emergency medical service or EMS. However, I do not intend to enter the field because it pays high but, because I personally like to help people and also to make a positive impact in the society. To make sure that the plans succeed, there is need to come up with steps and timeline that need to be considered so as to achieve the goals.

Steps and Timeline needed to Accomplish the Set Goals
As indicated above, I am currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Aviation Aerospace Technology where I want to enter the field of emergency medical service or EMS. To achieve this goal, I need to complete a set of tasks in the near future. The first task is making sure that I attend all of my classes and also ensure that I have passed all the units in the course. The task will ensure that I am able to complete the degree on time so that I can graduate in good time. In the event that I do not pass in all my units, I intend to enroll in the new bridge program so that I can take the graduate in the earliest time possible. Early graduation is vital because I plan to take the graduate program considering the fact that I intend to enter a very competitive field. To be able to take the graduate program, I will need to get the transcripts for my bachelor's degree course. Once I am accepted into the graduate program, I will register in the earliest time possible and start creating a habit that will ensure my success. To be able to travel around the world with the aim of gaining experience in the industry, I will need to save money from now at an average of 10% of my allowance so that I can have the necessary finances to achieve this objective. In addition, to be able to achieve all the tasks, I will need to take advantage of the self-empowerment techniques.
Self-empowerment Techniques
Self-empowerment techniques are considered to be activities for personal growth that are used in a period with the aim of creating a sense of personal accountability, power, and self-worth in a person according to my selected book by Manson (2016). The overall goal of the techniques is to accept, act upon, and recognize individually hidden reserves of ability, courage, and talent. In this case, they would help me to achieve my future goals. According to Ventimiglia (2014), release is an effective self-empowerment tool because it involves releasing self-defeating thoughts, limiting beliefs such as believing that I can not achieve, blockages, and negative emotions that might have negative effects on the ability to achieve the set goal. If needed, I would seek professional help from a therapist or a life-coach so that I can only have positive thoughts. The other self-empowerment technique according to Nilson (2013) is goal setting to create a pace and direction that will help in achieving a manageable future. In this case, the goals have already been set as achieving a bachelors degree in Aviation Aerospace Technology and being able to travel the world with the aim of gaining the necessary experience in the aviation industry that would help me to become an EMS helicopter pilot. Another self-empowerment technique that is vital in making sure that I achieve the set goal is taking one step at a time towards achieving the goal. In other words, it involves going at a speed that is comfortable with me by achieving one task at a time. The tasks start from attending all my classes and making sure that I have achieved my bachelor's degree, then take the graduate program, after which I will make sure that I cover between 1,000 and 1,500 hours of flight time. The next self-empowerment technique that will be effective in achieving the set goals according to Ventimiglia (2014) is a self-discipline that demand a follow up on the promises that I have made to myself to achieve the set goal. I plan to give everything that I do my complete attention including giving full attention to all that I do to make sure that there are positive consequences.
The emphasis the chosen as a General Studies student
Apart from pursuing the bachelor's degree in Aviation Aerospace Technology, I intend to focus my general studies of management courses. The course includes subjects such as business management, leadership and management, business, business administration, and logistic and supply chain management. I selected this subject because of the fact that management courses are vital in making sure that all processes are working effectively. More specifically, the skills that I have gained from the courses as a General Studies student include team building skills which is vital in the field of EMS because during the times of emergency, it is always vital for emergency workers to work as a team so that they can save as many people as possible ( Stokes, 2010). The next skill that I have learned is communication skills that involve developing confidence when speaking so that people can, for example, take emergency situation or announcements seriously when I am working in the medical emergency team. The next skill, which is vital for any individual in the EMS field is the problem-solving skills ( Nieuwenhuizen, 2008). The skill is vital because I expect to face many challenges in the EMS field such as the way in which I can reach people who need help. The skill would be useful in finding ways of resolving such issues. Evidently, taking this course has made by skill-set to be more diverse as compared to a student who had selected a particular major like biology.
Discussion of individuals selling themselves as employees
Cover letter networking techniques and self-empowerment will evidently help me to sell myself better in the future because they will help me to better describe myself to future employers and business partners. In addition, they will help me to promote the value of my undergraduate degree better by having the confidence to practice what I have learned, especially, in the case of self-empowerment. It is vital for me to increase my presence through implementing good work practices, self-promotion, and networking so as to be more marketable in the job market. It is vital to express my professional experience and academic achievements to others so that they can have knowledge of my skills and to help them identify if they would need my skill set in their companies (Ziegler, 2012). It is vital to note that the things that I have learned in GOSC 4020 have helped me to market myself better and be able to clearly articulate my skills because I learned the necessary communication skills needed to meet the objectives.
Conclusion
Self-assessment has become a vital factor among people in making sure that they achieve their goals. It involves analyzing the future plans of an individuals and how they can be achieved. However, self-empowerment is also vital in encouraging people to achieve their goals because it aims at creating a sense of personal accountability, power, and self-worth in a person.
