Working with many offenders that suffer from substance abuse is a problem since they apply much violence. They make the work stressful since they are willing to use weapons against us when we engage them. The task of handling criminals with drug abuse-related problems is difficult since most of these addicts are not ready to reason and listen to the officers. This issue makes handling such criminals frustrating as we face work-related violence when dealing with the addicts ( Erdem et al., 2018) . Therefore, violence is a practical issue that we face as probation officers, especially when on duty. The sociological theory looks at the sociological factors and acknowledges that criminal behavior is a normal response to social circumstances. The approach focuses on structural factors affecting human behavior that makes someone to become a criminal like social disorganization and poverty. Application of the theory assists the probation officers in interacting with addicts and understand the background of their problems. The association with criminals helps them in understanding criminal behaviors and values ( Erdem et al., 2018) . The approach assists in finding the cause of their unlawful actions when engaging the criminals. It will support the criminals to accept the need for rehabilitation. The new idea based on the sociological theory that needs to be introduced in our sector of work should be directed towards helping drug addicts restrain from their violent actions. I can launch a social-intervention program where we work with all criminals under drug addiction. The social-interaction program gives the criminals a space to share their life history in a computer-based program with other criminals from other places. The program allows them to ask questions and share their experiences with reformed criminals from other areas. The idea is meant to help the criminals understand that violence does not help them. Therefore, they need to interact and share their experiences so that they can find solutions to their problems.
