The core function is also accompanied by surveillance and investigation of environmental health infections and health risks within the community. Policy Development is characterized by raising awareness, Informing and equipping the public with knowledge on how to handle environmental health issues, campaigning for communal participation, and actions to diagnose and resolve environmental health problems. The Assurance core function helps in the implementation of legislation and regulations that safeguard environmental health and guarantee safety.

The essential service incorporates various public healths inclusive of identifying health risks and establishing consequent health service needs (Gebbie et al., 2015). It encompasses timely data collection, analysis, and information presentation on availability, expenditure, and health services results. It also includes close analysis of critical statistics and health condition of specific groups that are more vulnerable as compared to the total population, and team management integrated information systems with individual caretakers and health insurance plans. 

Surveillance and detection of health risks in the community
