The human resource managers have to assess and screen potential employees before coming up with the right and most qualified individuals suitable for the job vacancy. There are various tips provided as guidelines to assist the human resource managers in organizations during the process of screening and assessing job applicants.

The first tip is the reviewing of the application forms of the potential employees. Application forms have to be assessed first in order to sieve out the candidates who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the job (Bowen & Leger, 2013). In this case, the human resource management has to focus on the education background of the candidates, their working experience in other organizations and recommendations from various guarantors who know the individuals.

Another tip that is highly recommended is reviewing the cover letters of the candidates. While assessing the cover letters of the applicants, the focus should be on their reasons for applying for the job. Their diction and communication prowess has to be established through the assessment of the cover letters (Bowen & Leger, 2013). The attached resumes and curriculum vitae have to be considered in this assessment.

Additional tips

The candidate assessment and screening method has to be formulated before resumes start to be brought in by the candidates. This tip enables the human resource management to focus efforts on interviewing the most promising job candidates while eliminating the unnecessary ones.

Conducting phone screen candidate assessment. To invite candidates who meet the needs of the job, it is vital to conduct phone screening in order to eliminate those who will fail to answer the basic questions asked.

Using social media. The human resource management has to also use social media accounts of the candidates to find out their real behaviors and demeanor so that only those who have the right conduct are invited for the final interview.

Maximize interactions with the candidates. It is vital to increase informal interaction with the candidates during the interview so that one can find out their way of relating to other people.

Use reference checks. It is vital to carry out reference checks so that one gets what other people have to say about a particular candidate.
