The utilitarian approach is the ethical framework that has been chosen for my decision. This framework is useful in making key ethical decisions, and it focuses on balancing the good and the bad that will arise from one's action (Birsch, 2013) . The approach aims to generate the greatest good and the least harm to all affected parties. Based on the utilitarian ethical approach, I would leave the daughter with the stable family since it would lead to the greatest good to the family and the child and the least harm to the biological mother.
Analysis
The utilitarianism ethical framework is based on consequences and emphasizes that one should undertake the action that offers the greatest good and least harm. In this respect, the individual's action will result in some good and some bad and, as a result, the individual will need to weigh the level of good and bad in making a final decision (Birsch, 2013) . In the movie example, the two private detectives have to balance the level of good and bad derived from leaving the little girl away from her real mother. If they leave the daughter away from her real mother, some good and some bad will arise from this action. For instance, the good is that the daughter will grow up in a stable and loving home free from drug addiction influence by her real mother. The bad is that the biological mother will be separated from her daughter and might become lonely. The decision to take the daughter to her biological mother will also have some good and some bad.

Decision
I would decide to leave the daughter with the loving family and away from her real mother, given that such a decision results in the greatest good and least harm for all parties. The daughter will grow up in a stable home without the influence of drugs. The family raising the child will be happy. The mother will be lonely but will avoid losing her daughter to child protective services.
