Part I: Topic Statement
Society for the prevention of cruelty to an animal is nonprofit animal welfare. The organization was founded in 1824. The primary objective of the organization is to campaign for animal welfare, finding homes for unwanted animals, providing assistance of cruelty to animal cases. Different issues and aims vary according to varying organizations since the organization operates independently of each other. The various organizations around the world are not affiliated to each other in any way Every SPCA organization has its financial reports, a board of management and governing policies. I am interested in SPCA because for one, it is a nonprofit organization and it is aimed at protecting animals. An organization that has its objective in protecting animals and providing protection is the kind of an organization that I will be interested. The organization has one of its centers in Texas and I happen to know how it serves the community and how their function. My family members are members of the organization, and I am looking forward to becoming a member too soon.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
Part II: Description of the Community Organization
The society for the prevention of cruelty to animals was founded in England in the year 1824. It started as the royal society for the prevention of cruelty to animals as a charity organization in England. The organization developed over time by the great interest of people wanting to prevent animals from cruelty, the organizations spread its wings all over the world. The goal of SPCA is to protect animals form negligence, exploitation, and abuse. The organization operates in different places around the country, in Texas; the organization is in a middle-class neighborhood. This is because the neighborhood is of middle-class citizens who own pets and other animals. The organization serves a diverse population since it encourages every citizen to join their organization and work toward achieving the mission and vision of the Texas SPCA. The McKinney branch is among the best SPCA center available in Texas The SPCA organization has helped animal’s adaption, it has led investigations of animal cruelty, it has also been engaged in animal rescues and clinic visits including vaccination of animals. The McKinney SPCA is dedicated to providing every animal in Texas a loving home and exceptional care. They get support from The North Texas Communities. The workers are welcoming, and they are professionals in dealing with animal care and protection. Expertise staff are also among the employees of the organization. Part III: Participation
I visited the Surrendering a Pet to the SPCA of McKinney, last week on a Monday of 17 September 2018. The animal center is an SPCA branch that focuses on intake shelter. The center takes in pets from the public as space permits. The center brings up pets for adoption and finds lost pets. They try finding a loving home for their pets. The people in the center are welcoming, and they are lovely people. When I visited, I was greeted by the secretary at the front desk and was immediately offered a glass of water, which I took, I gladly accepted. The staff seems close, they hang out with people in the community that surrounds them, and they engage them in conversations. The center has a fantastic workforce and staff. Their interactions with newcomers like me were inspiring since they offer their time to listen to each of the newcomers and tend to them appropriately. The people in the center of Texas do attend church and are members of other organizations that aim to eradicate poverty and promote good health. These are people from around the community that works in the center, s they do participate in other activities in the community apart from their primary role in the SPCA center.
The atmosphere in the organization is formal because of the friendly staff that works in the organization. The atmosphere is formal when a lost pet is found and recovered back to its owner. It is a laid-back atmosphere when the day passes by, and they have not fulfilled their objective of the day. The meetings held at the organizational are mandatory since they address the issues that are affecting the organization at that particular time. The meetings are also made compulsory because staff workers get to gather up new ideas on how to achieve their mission in effective ways.
There is a hierarchical leadership in the organization with the head of the organization being the president. The SPCA president of Texas James Bias heads the organization with over thirty years’ experience in animal care and control industry. Then a senior vice president of development, vice president communications, vice president in animal welfare and vice president I finance. Then there is the executive assistant and special assistant completing the leadership system of the organization. Democratic processes are encouraged in the leadership of the organization since the vice presidents serve a certain period before electing another set of individuals who will lead the organization.
Members of the public can join the organization. The organization offers volunteer positions to encourage participation from the audience. As a volunteer one will be able to save and enrich animal lives, one will also have the opportunity to participate in the organization's activities and meetings held by the organization. Members participate in the program for helping animal lives because this is a right course. Saving animal lives is important in our lives since we sustain the environment and maintaining the ecosystem. During my recent visit in the Texas SPCA center, the organization engaged in the activity of washing the pets that have been kept Washing them to remove any pests that might have clogged to the animals while they were lost. The activity entailed washing dogs and cats and trimming down the fur in some cats that had grown too hairy. I observed that the organization maintained cleanliness and hygiene and they maintained a high level of organization. It was a fun-filled day having spent most of the time with the hospitable organization's staff.
Part IV: Application of Concepts
The organization operates in a transparency concept that enables them to trust each other and co-relate within the organization. It is through transparency that the organization can receive donations from the community and have the ability to use the funds that they receive wisely. Transparency enables the workers to have a sense of belonging and have the ability to execute their work effectively. The other concept is the concept of social capital. The organization relies heavily on social capital that enables them to work effectively with community members. The relationship between people and the organization’s staff allows them to function effectively. Social capital enables the concept of bonding and bringing.
Through the concepts of binding and social capital, the organization has the best strategies and ideas to tackle the problem of individualism. Based on my experience the organization responds well to the growing individualism in the American society. By encouraging people to bond and strengthen those binds, working closely with community members in other projects and encouraging community participation in achieving the organization’s goal and mission. Through networking, the company can tackle individualism in the American society. To support these claims. The convenient organization ways of treating the newcomers and visitors is a sure way I observed that is trying to end individualism.
The organization can become more effective in recruiting and engaging members and contributing to the community by employing strategies that are meant to mobilize and create awareness of the program. Creating awareness of their mission and vision is one way that the organization can use to engage the community in contributing to their environment. An offering of incentives like free lunch or some branded clothes is also another way of ensuring that the community members get to contribute. In recruiting members, the organization ought to employ people on merit and passion. They have to look for people who are passionate about the caring of animals to work for the organization. Employing these strategies will improve their functioning and enable effectiveness in conducting their functions in fulfilling the organization’s goals.
Part V: Reflection
The experience makes me feel motivated and inspired. It was an inspiring moment for me, seeing that an organization in my community is working to save the lives of animals and offer protection and while doing this it encourages and promotes socialness among people and discouraging individualism. I learned the importance of social capital and why it is important for organizations to promote community participation in where they are located. I also learned the importance of treating employees with respect and as a family. By treating employees as a family, they can bring out the best out of them, and these benefits the organization.
