In the contemporary world, the use of internet has become prevalent, especially to the younger individuals. Notably, most of the younger people share a wide range of information about themselves on the social media sites. The internet is incorporated to support the designing of the social sites that help in sharing information and expanding networks. I believe the Skinner Box analogy is valid because most of the internet users’ behavior have indicated their ignorance towards the threats on their privacy. Individuals embrace a complete public approach to the internet. The social media has introduced a dimension where individuals can share their profiles and the patterns of reputation management on these sites differ from one person to another. Nonetheless, according to Kitty Ostapowicz, posting photos on the internet is something she enjoys (Nussbaum, (n.d.)). Individuals can choose to use the internet in either a positive or negative way.

Kitty Ostapowicz is a person who has found the internet to be beneficial to her through the documentation of her experiences (Nussbaum, (n.d.)). When individuals’ experiences are shared through the social media, the lessons learned may be helpful to others especially in shaping their lives and overcoming difficulties. Nonetheless, sharing private information on the internet can be a threat to one’s privacy. In further support, the increased use of the internet is prone to security breaches as well as to public scrutiny. Strangers may get access to peoples’ private information and interfere with the valid records. A lot of people’s information that is posted on the internet have been hacked. Thus, the specific privacy concerns and expectations should be well known before any information is posted on the internet.
