Theories are essential in public health practices in several ways. Programs in public health practices are critical in improving health, reduce the risk of diseases, and allows effective management of chronic diseases. However, the success of a health practice program depends on the clear understanding of the behavior and the environmental context. The health behaviors will be developed and using strategic models for planning, and they are improved through a continuous evaluation process. Theories in health behavior can serve a vital role in various areas.

In health practices, theories are applied in the various stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of health care interventions. The health care practitioners will use the theories in shaping the pursuit of the answers of WHAT? WHO? and HOW? i.e., the theories can be used in the provision of guidance on the reason as to WHY people do not follow health or doctor’s prescription or the reason why they are not healthily caring for themselves (Glanz & Bishop, 2010). Equally, in the health practices, the theories can be used to pinpoint WHAT a practitioner or a nurse needs to know before the development and the organization of an intervention program. They will need to provide an insight as to HOW the strategies of the intervention should be shaped for it to be valid to the people and the health care facility. Also, the theories will assist in the determination of WHAT should be monitored, measured, and a comparison made during the program evaluation process.

More so, theories in health practice can assist in a better understanding of the nature of the aimed health behaviors. They will provide a basis for the dynamics of the action, the process that can be implemented to change the behavior, and the impact that the external environment will have on the response. Equally, in the health practice, the theories will help in the selection of the most relevant program, the mechanisms to be used in the implementation of the change, and the feedback of the evaluation. Hence, theories will describe behavior and suggest tools that can be used to achieve target change behavior.

I might apply the theory to the development of my public health campaign by developing a good grasp of the approach. That will be essential to the leadership docket of my health campaign, particularly in the promotion. The theory will assist me in the creation of the vision and mission for the future of the campaign. However, that ill only is relevant if I will be in a position to translate and simplify the theory to my co-workers effectively. Also, it will assist in the determination of WHAT the problem is that the heath campaign targets to solve, WHO will take part in solving the problem and HOW will the problem be solved. That will enable me to sit back and think of a larger picture of the health campaign. I will be aware of the theories, and I will be in a position to apply them with skills into practice. The act will help me solve the problems at hand and others in the long run. There will be an adaptation of ideas from the behavioral and social science aspect of the theory to fit the concerns which will be addressed by the health campaign.
